How many acronyms can we fit in 1 trip?MNSSHP,F&W,WWOHP,&HHN-Update 10.21-TR started!

I have been following the 2010 Food and Wine Festival thread here on the DIS, and someone posted the list of all the booths for this year - and I am very sad to note that India is not on the list!

I will miss you Mango Lassi. I can only hope to find something else as nice and refreshing to quench my thirst this year.

Mmmm that looks so good!

I didn't even know there was a list of the booths that will be at F&W this year, I'll have to go check it out! I keep forgetting that my trip starts on the last weekend of F&W so I'm definitely going to Epcot my first day there! :cool1:

I totally missed that they started a 2010 F&W thread! Thanks for posting that!!

No problem! It seems like the date to start booking everything is July 20, which is a few weeks earlier than last year. I'm hoping it means that we'll have all the official info soon.

Joining in Arbolita!

:cool1: Welcome! Now I have two places to bug you about starting your trip report ;-)

It tasted like a thick mango smoothie. We were there during the first week of the F&W Fest last year, and it was still so hot out that all I wanted were the cold items. Mr. Arb was saw the picture on my screen when I posted it earlier, and he was also disappointed when I told him it wouldn't be there this year.

Someone just found the list a few days ago by poking around on the site. It looks like to make room for the new booths, they also got rid of Thailand, New Orleans and Austria this year.

But they kept France and hopefully they'll still have the Chocolate Milk Creme Brulee

Welcome! I'll have to go check out your PTR to find out why your plans might (not) happen, but I hope that you are able to get things to work out!

The more I think about it, the more things I want to add to my Must Do list - I'm either going to have to really prioritize them, or plan another trip. I bet you can't guess which one I'd rather do

Hi! :goodvibes I'm following you over from my PTR! I'm excited to join in! Gotta catch up now!

Welcome! I'm excited to have you join in as well =)

I've been MIA and had no idea any F&W info was posted; thank you for letting me know!!!

I'm going to go decide what to fatten myself up with now. :lmao:

If it were me, I'd rather plan another trip....which is why I have a "might not" go PTR. :rotfl2:

I'm still on the "might not" go list...I'm not even on stand-by! But I am PLANNING! :rolleyes1

After seeing other trip reports and experiencing extreme jealousy over some of the pictures, I decided that before our next trip to Disney I would like to get a new camera.

I've had a basic point and shoot camera for years, and with my most recent (Canon Powershot 750) I've been playing more with all the different settings to make my pictures better without digital enhancement.

I decided that for my next camera I want to expand on that and get something a little fancier. I'm pretty sure that I want to get an Advanced Point and Shoot (like the Canon Powershot S90 or G11), but because of their cost ($400-500 at Best Buy), I'm wondering if it might might more sense to just spend the little bit of extra money on a DSLR, like one of the Rebels. My main attraction to the Advanced P&S is the size compared to a DSLR, but like I said, if I am going to be shelling out that much money it makes more sense to get the nicer camera.

Thoughts?

I have a point and shoot Kodak camera (gotta support the hometown companies!) I like it just fine, I don't think I'd take as many pictures if I had to set up every shot!

We had the same debate in March and ended up buying the new Canon T2i before our May trip. I'm so happy that we did. We still took our old point and shoot camera with us but the pictures from the dSLR were so much better.

For me, now that we have a dSLR camera, I want to do more with it than just keeping it in auto mode or using the other special auto modes on the camera. Coincidentally when we returned home, the photography subforum on the DisBoard started their 2010 Photography scavenger hunt. I've used it as an incentive to keep taking pictures and am learning heaps just by looking at other people's pictures.

I'd recommend that you think about how you are going to use the camera after your trip, what type of shots you want to take and whether it is worth spending the money. There are a heap of dSLR cameras out there and a broad price range. We probably could have been equally as happy with the T1i or an older model; but DH wanted the video capability on the T2i.

I've also seen some pictures taken on the Pentex K-X that are spectacular and the photographer admits that she leaves it in auto most of the time.

The only thing you might want to really consider is whether you'll be happy lugging it around. You'll love the pictures and you'll get over spending the money...but will you really take it with you. I take a big bag that doubles as a backpack or carryall and I just put the camera in there. It's constantly coming out and going back in because I don't like to wear the camera around my neck too much, especially when it's hot. I know my wife would never want to carry a big camera like that around, but I don't mind. So...something to think about.

I too am lusting over a DSLR. I decided to hold off for a while though, and I got one of the advanced P&S like you mentioned and I'm loving it so far! I have the Nikon P90 and it takes great pictures. :thumbsup2 I still have a lot to learn about the camera and photography in general, though. I figure that while it's just Miguel and I, the P90 will be just fine. Once we start having kids though, I'd like to upgrade to a DSLR.

Woohoo! 99 days until we leave!

Thanks everybody for your input about the cameras. I thought about your advice/suggestions and decided that for now, I think I'll just go with my initial choice of an Advanced Point & Shoot camera. This will give me a chance to learn about some of the more technical aspects of cameras and hopefully prepare me to one day upgrade to a DSLR. We'll have our trip paid off shortly, so I'm hoping to get the camera about one month before we leave, which will give me time to test it out and hopefully get some really nice shots while we're at Disney/Universal.

By the way, for those of you reading this that are heading to Disney in October, make sure you go check the Food and Wine Festival thread, especially pages 24 and 25. A lot of details came out today about what chefs/vendors will be participating at specific events and what dates they will be there, and might be helpful with your planning.

I hope those of you who are in the States and Canada are enjoying your holiday weekends!!

More days at Disney? Yes, please!

Mr. Arb and I were talking about our trip today and he mentioned that he really wished we would have a weekend day or two on our trip. You better believe that within two minutes I was searching through my old e-mails for pin codes I've received and figuring out some numbers! I gave him a rough estimate of what it would cost to add a two-night stay at a value resort, and he said let's do it!

So we will now be arriving at MCO on October 9, staying at the Pop Century for two nights, then moving to Port Orleans Riverside for the rest of our stay.

Now to figure out my two new ADR's!

Present!

Saw you are planning a dinner at Raglan Road. I hope you will be there late enough (8PM or so) to experience the live band. They are great. We saw them last year, but we didn't get a chance to get to Raglan Road this last trip.

How exciting! More time at Disney is always a plus!!!

I agree too, especially when Mr. Arb suggests it, haha. I think I've turned him into a Disneyphile as well!

Yay!!! :woohoo: That's great news! I can't wait to hear about your plans for these two new days! popcorn::

I was looking at the park hours and EMH's, and I booked our new ADR's today. I think I'm going to set up a general plan for when to visit each park sometime this week, and I'll definitely post it when I have it figured out.

Welcome! Our dinner is starting at 6:45 there, so we should be around when they start playing. We went there last year also, but weren't around to hear the band, so I'm sure if I mention it to Mr. Arb, he'll want to hang around for a bit to check them out.

Yay for more days at Disney. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Thanks! I think our trip will be more relaxed overall now that we have some extra time to fit everything in, not to mention trying some new restaurants. I'm about to go back through the Food Pics thread to look for pictures from the places we're adding so I can check everything out, haha

Yayayayayayay for more days! That worked out for us on this trip, too! We were going to fly out on Friday but ended up adding Friday night!

Always exciting!!!!
