How low will they go...cheaptickets.com?

I booked with orbitz using 15% off. I've watching the cheaptickets discount go up each week - 15%, 16%, 17%...now 18%! Anyone know, historically, how far they discount before it drops down again?

I'm annoyed with Orbitz and considering cancelling the reservations and switching to cheap tickets, but willing to wait for a better discount

FYI...Cheaptickets is owned by Orbitz, so you'd still essentially be giving your money to the same company.

Hmmm I didn't know cheap tickets was owned by orbitz. That's kind of annoying But explains why they didn't care that I threatened to cancel my reservations to switch over.

Yep, they are the same company now. Cheap Tickets wasn't allowing the use of discount codes on Disney resorts in the past, but it seems as if they are now allowing them again. The only downside is that they impose a $25 cancellation fee if you need to cancel. And then they blame that on Disney, which I will say is total BS. Disney may be trying a money grab at every angle now a days, but this isn't one of them.

But if there is not a high probability of cancellation you can get a great deal through either of them.

However, when I cancelled my reservation last month with them, I told them that I confirmed with Disney that there would NOT be a cancellation charge and the (very helpful) agent said "Okay, I'll call the hotel right now and confirm that with them and if they say there's no cancellation then we won't charge one". I got my refund 100%

Good for you. I did have to pay the $25 fee. I had two different people "call", one a supervisor.

Not sure if this is associated with my account but I recently made a large purchase with them and got an email that said to use "THANKS20" for 20% off. It's only 2 percent more...but hey...if it works, 2% is 2%

I just wanted to give a bit of a warning about waiting for the lowest.
I booked with cheaptickets last month but have been watching my dates, mostly out of curiosity. They suddenly have no Disney properties available for my dates. They all say sold out.
I'd suggest just booking when you find a price you are happy with so you don't miss out waiting to save a little bit more.

I think it's Disney that is down so they can't book rooms at the other sites. I've been trying all day and if you try a year out it still says sold out.

Umwhat, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!! I got the same resort where I already had a reservation, but I added a day for only $15.23 more than my "original" reservation thru Disney! I already had a good discount, but this is way better than it appears on the surface, because my new rate is about 43.8% off weekday rack rates and 37.38% off weekend rack rates!

For anyone interested in getting a "deal"...play with your dates and don't assume the rates are the same for simply adding a night.
Example: ASMu 5 nights $615.15 w/ 20% discount (for our dates, avg. $133/night before discount)....BUT...
by changing the dates (adding a night on the front-end) the rates-offer CHANGED (avg night)!
For 6 nights it came to $616.38 w/ 20% (avg. $111/night before discount)!!!!!!!!!!
Yes you read that correctly!
For $1.23 difference I could add one night. I couldn't believe my eyes and rechecked it several times before I paid for it. This was because the nightly average changed when I changed the dates. So there you go....

Brandy, you cAnt use a pin but the rooms are already reduced to the deal Disney is giving. I got akl for $204 a night for end of June. That's with the discounted rate plus the additional 20% off. And like mickeysbud said play around with the dates a bit. We are doing split stay. Got Boardwalk for about $250 a night but if I tried to do bw first it was a lot more.

You can not add the dining plan on though if you don't book through Disney.

When you're in the booking/payment screen, Below traveler information and above the pictures of the various credit cards, there is a blue line that says enter a promo code. Click that and then a more classic way to enter the code will come up. THANKS20 will take 20% off.
