How long will a double balloon stay inflated?

We decided to buy one and after the first night didn't take it back into the park. It was still inflated two mornings later and we took it home. Our mistake was thinking it would last in our car driving home through the Central Valley. After stopping for lunch, we found it had blown up in the heat inside our car. The outside balloon (polyester or vinyl?) split at the seam and the Mickey head shaped rubber balloon looked like it had exploded. We probably should have taken it with us.

So for those who have taken one home without our unfortunate mishap, how long will it typically last? I know there's different results, but it didn't look noticeably leaking after 1.5 days. I though it might be clear polyester (like a Mylar balloon without the metallic finish), but I think it's some sort of clear vinyl. It didn't crinkle like an empty Mylar balloon.

If we go back this weekend I suppose we'll get another one and take better care of it.

I remember my parents getting me one when I was a kid. I recall it wasn't so clear and was some sort of translucent latex on the outside. I went with a friend, and that person accidentally let her's go and it hit a stucco ceiling where the outer layer exploded, but the inside one stayed intact. I think the current version is probably considerably tougher.

I figure as long as it's a sealed environment inside a relatively impermeable outside ballon, that the latex balloon doesn't seal well doesn't matter.

We had a similar problem traveling home with the balloon. I had 2 balloons one in the front seat with me & the second one in the back of the minivan where the sun was hitting it on the way home & the one in the back the mickey head deflated where as mine not hitting the sun the entire drive home to san jose, ca lasted a few months. So be careful where you keep this balloon on the way home.

Well, a few years back we bought our kids one at WDW at a Halloween Party. We were there mid-September or so, so it must have been one of the first parties offered. It was still floating around their playroom (not high, low, around my eye level) on Christmas morning. I remembered thinking that was one of the best purchases at WDW I had ever made!
