How long on average does it take to get through Orlando airport from landing to stepping out of the airport?

Last time flying Prem Economy on Virgin I was driving my hire car in 35 minutes from touch down that was my best ever, if you fly on upgrasdes with Virgin they let you out first and your baggage usuaully comes quickly, my worst was October after 9/11 That was 90 mins.

I would say normally the average would be about 90 minutes.

I agree with Johnny's average.

The fastest we have ever done is 45 minutes, the longest, 2 hours.

Last time we were through in 45 mins.

It depends really, we flew Virgin PE, bags were off very quickly and if you know the airport you are at an advantage.

Fill in the green visa waiver forms as soon as you can, in the UK if possible and do them correctly. The amount of people who have a 9 hour flight and don't find 10 mins to complete them??

A tip - if one of you is driving, one go to the car hire desk and one go for the luggage, this saves a lot of time. Meet up at the rental desk then it's a case of walking out the door, crossing the road to the car rental area's then you are on your way....

If you have been through before then I would say it can be done within an hour, if not I think longer as it isn't the most straightforward airport let's be honest.
It was only October last year when we last visited and I can remember some of how to get through it but not all of it and that was my 4th visit..
My best tip though is to send one of your party to sort the car hire, if via Dollar, downstairs whilst the other sorts the baggage upstairs. We find this saves us time.
Maybe we should post how to get through the airport for people who have never been before. If we all added a bit I bet we would have the journey remembered perfectly.

Beat you by 2 mins !!

I think a lot can depend on how quick you get your suitcases, we fly to Orlando by Economy and fly home PE.

Seem to remember last August 2 of our cases came off very early but was then waiting 20 minutes for the 3rd one.
Must admit we have never been less than an hour in leaving.

Next month I don't really care as we are staying the 1st night at the MCO Hyatt, I may have to time how long it takes me to get to the bar though - once Josh is settled naturally. ;)

We've always been on the road within the hour but we've always been lucky with our bags off quickly.

Looking at your averages I must have been lucky, PE or UC really helps, first off the plane so now back up on queues at Imigration and they do seem to get your bags off quickly, one year it was on a different baggage claim, i know the airport well so its through the second security check on the shuttle train and down for the luggage, the car check in is a good idea.

:rotfl: I noticed that Kevin when my post flashed up. You know what they say good minds think alike, even if we don't like the same football team :rotfl:

I would agree with the average but it really depends on if another flight lands at the same time. Also make sure that you haven't made any mistakes on your Waiver form as it's back of the queue for being naughty!!
SD :thumbsup2

is it quicker thru Sanford? What if you take into account getting thru plus driving time (to Royal Pacific for instance)? Been quite a while since we last went so not sure of all the extra security to take into account nowadays.

That is a NICE hotel - really interesting too!

We have stayed there a couple of times. Quite like the casual restaurant - McCoy's Bar and Grill. Haven't tried the pool (was raining last time we were there), but it looks good and has an "interesting" view of the planes etc (might be a bit noisy). Really loved having an atrium view room - overlooks the main terminal foyer: this may sounds odd, but I LOVED people watching (especially all of the Disney/Cruise groups meeting up and being led out).

Hope that you have a great time and hope that you got a good rate for it (last time we stayed there got it for $55 through Hotwire - bargain)

Yeah I am looking forward to it, means we don't have to rush off and find our villa and go to Publix etc - can get something to eat and have a relaxed evening.

To be honest we booked it because we were thinking of going back to Miami & Ft Lauderdale for a few days, and were going to drive there the next morning, but we changed our minds and booked the Boardwalk instead.

Just need to speak to Dollar about the car as we are due to collect the day we arrive, I really want to pick it up the next morning.
