How long to add on points at sold out resort?

What I want to know is WHEN AM I GOING TO GET MY VWL POINTS

I was told less than a month and today is 14 days...I am resigned to the fact that my BCV points will take forever but I really REALLY want my VWL points....

Stitch1404...unusual that a guide would offer you a different UY? Dad's right..ALL in the same UY will give you lots of "power", no waiting till 7th month to add on additional nights to a ressie, no hastle of managing 2 UY's and certainly "worth the wait" !!

I think I read previously about someone else being allowed by their guide to purchase a less-than-150 point BCV add-on in a different use year. Is it possible that DVC allows this because the add-on waitlist is so long for some use years that it would alleviate some of the pressure?

Persistence pays off---
we are now the proud owners of 50pts at BCV Apr UY

My guide has been out sick this week, so i was able to speak with Bill Rowe
He really tried to "discourage" it because of how "confused" it would make me, but i kept pushing and got the aforementioned April points. We, of course, won't get the '05 points, but, given the length of the August Waitlist that he was looking at, we probably wouldn't have gotten the Aug '05's either.

paperwork is on its way!!!

ETA--oh, and Bill even said that if beetween now and when the deed gets recorded that Aug points do become available, they will switch it without a problem!!

Seneca - whats your opinion about different UY in this situation?

Hubby and I believe we'll be visit WDW mostly Nov, Dec, or Jan so an October or Sept UY would work out best

We also want to visit HHI either Mid May or Late August so a March or April UY makes sense for that vacation

Given that stuff, we think having 2 master contracts with different UY would make it much easier for any unexpected cancellations and banking. And we'd really like to take advantage of the 11 month reservations.

Is our thinking way off? We'd love some feedback on this!

We also expect to go resale cause our ideal contracts (at this time - always subject to change!) would be 100 pt OKW and 60 pts HHI. At the very least our first contract would be resale since it's under the 150 pt Disney minimum

As a result, my guide is not allowed to disclose pricing or inventory over the phone. We have to actually GO to Orlando to be put on a waitlist and then GO to orlando to close!

This is me being very frustrated and considering a resale instead for my addon. At least they don't require me to go down ...

I didn't realize there was anything unusual about being offered points not in our use year. Does this not happen often or is it not allowed or something? Maybe I misunderstood, but I definitely thought she said I could buy April points immediately.

There are certainly more experienced DISers here than I..but...your vacationing style "might" dictate seperate contracts, given HH is supposedly difficult to get in summer.
Many people here have multiple contracts and manage them without problem. Remember that you can't combine both resort pts. till either 1 of the 7th months or if you need additional pts..say at HH you will either wait till the 7th mo. of OKW, or, borrow from the next years HH pts!!!

As far as UY's go...I think if my "history of vacationing" was unsure and the possibility of cancellation, other than an emergency, was high.....than I'd be concerned with what UY I had.
Normally...UY is only important for banking and borrowing pts.

Its a great tool! You can get a ballpark of how many pts. you might need...and use it going forward for upcoming vacations....
You can pick the resort, size unit, vacation season and it will instantly give you the amt. of pts. needed for that vacation.
Also...it will tell you the exact date to call for the 11th and 7th month ressies.

People pick and choose according to their own style.
I personally am a "KISS" person..."Keep It Simple Stupid".......
.....So...I like having all my eggs in 1 basket, 1 contract with add on's. Making 1 ressie, either 11th or 7th month, not need to worry about those few pts. I need to complete a stay, borrow a few from next year? or wait till 7th mo.?, what to do with the "other" contract's pts for this year?...etc.

sorry...Its just the expression I use.

I have all my pts, + 2 add ons, at the same resort, same UY...so 1 contract in terms of making ressies, banking, borrowing.

My total pts. are available to me "all at once" at the same time.

If they were the same resort and 2 different UY's, I would need to wait till the 11th month of the other UY to make additional ressies and couldn't initially combine them at the 11th month...say to stay longer or if I wanted a larger unit to bring family or friends.

I hope I helped clarify my reasoning...sometimes its easier to say it..than write it??

Yes...it seems like a lloonngg wait but hang in there....

I have already borrowed half of 2007 already. I am hoping to get on the list soon so I am also interested in when the price increase will occur. Anyone?

I don't know when the price increase will occur.

I can tell you my personal experience:
Check out the "Got Our Points" section and you will see me, senecabeach.
I waited a very long time for my 2 add ons and there were 2 price increases during my wait.
I got my add on's at the original price they were selling for at the time I went on the wait list.
Don't know if they have changed that...Good Luck to you all!!

You give them a CC number but they do not charge until your points come through. December is about a 30 day wait I am told - we are on day 21 so any time!!!

I am also waiting for BCV and as long as you put your name on before the price increase, you get points at 92. Heck for BCV it is CHEAPER to buy through Disney than resale!!!
