How long to add on points at sold out resort?

I must have been one day too late - darn it! We got on the waitlist February 24 for 25 BWV June UY Points. I just spoke with my guide last night and she said nothing was available!

What is the importance of having a specific use year? I read that people are seeking points with specific months or years. Interested to know why. We own SSR and wish we knew we had the option to add on BC versus SSR.

People asking for a specific use year and most likely adding on to an existing contract and they want the UY to be the same as the one they already have. THis makes tracking points and using points a bit easier. They may also be looking for a UY that fits better with the WDW vacation plans. If someone historically always visits Disney in February or March, you would not want an April UY since cancelling ressies would cause a problem in using your points b/4 the end of the UY. Instead you would want a Dec or Feb UY, so you would have nearly a full year in which to use the points if you have to cancel.

You CAN add on at BCV instead of SSR. You can do an add-on for as little as 25 pts (if you pay cash), or 50 points (if you need Disney financing). The only catch is...you have to stay with your original UY. But, if your "master" contract is at SSR, you can still add-on at any other DVC property that you wish.

BCV has a long waitlist....so, if you want on there, I would get on sooner rather than later.

Hey we are waiting together! I am waiting for 50 Dec UY at BCV. I talked to my guide today and he told me to expect 6 months. He also said a ROFR went through today and the buyer paid 96 a point obviously DVC let that one pass!!!

Anyway, we went on the list for 60 points with a December use year at Beach Club Villas. When I called our guide said there were April BCV points available for immediate purchase. I was all ready to buy, but I called my dad to make sure it would be okay. He was entirely opposed to the idea, he doesn't want to have some points with an April UY, some with December. Oh well, guess it's gonna be a long wait...
