How long is waitlist for direct purchase through DVC at GCV?

Thanks for the help, everyone! I talked to my guide today and had him change the BLT purchase to a VGC waitlist. I'm supposedly number 25 on the list, which is a lower number than I had heard before. Hopefully, the wait isn't too long!

We'll look forward to an update as you move up on the list! You might have an advantage as you aren't trying to match a certain UY. If 24 of those folks are all current owners and want their same UY, you could hear soon :). Am I being too optimistic ?!

Recently the rules are different if you buy from resale than direct too, so it may be helpful to get that info too before deciding (the perks are different). Agreed with what many already posted. Buy where YOU want and will be happiest and get the most enjoyment for your hard-earned money.

My fam owns @ Saratoga, I own @ AKL, which they don't care for, but I think is the most awesome resort! We meet @ meals & in the parks. :)

I definitely agree, buy where you want to stay. Good luck:wizard: We hope you get what you are looking for. Let us know if/when you get your points.

Good choice :) Please keep us posted.

Riverrunner, am after you on the waitlist. We really enjoy our annual visits to VGC! Called guide yesterday (4/16) to add on more points. Guide said there are 25 already on the waitlist. Hoping we all clear the list soon!

To the posters in this thread, thanks for the info.

My hubby and I are looking to buy into DVC. We really want to buy into VGC, since that is the closest resort to us, and we stay in Anaheim to vacation and visit family once a year. We usually go during off season, on weekdays, and never book anything larger than a one bedroom, so availability for us might not be as big a problem as for other people. We've thought about buying into WDW, but really, that's on the opposite coast for us. We definately wouldn't go every year, and we'd end up using our points to try and book into VGC anyways.

I guess I'll have to contact Disney and get waitlisted then.

To those of you who waitlisted, please let us know how long it takes to get your points! k

I hope your wait is short! We live 30 minutes from DLR and thought we would use our SSR points. Some have been successful getting their dates 7 months out but we couldn't get the dates we really wanted. We ended up buying 150 points at VGC just to book our "important" dates 11 months out. Maybe it's just us but we haven't been able to book using our SSR points yet 7 months out. Just wanted to let you know it will be worth the wait.

Totally curious...do you book 11 months out for family..or do you stay at VGC yourself even though you're a local :)

Both. We have a family gathering Memorial Day weekend that is booked 11 months out. We like to stay there ourselves for our anniversary and birthdays.
Another reason is my DD is a runner and she wanted points in order to stay onsite the night before the Disneyland half marathon, which will be booked 11 months out.

I never knew GCV would be so popular. Interesting how there is only 48 rooms. In the latest DVC pamplet they said there was only 1450 DVC members as of feb 2009 for GCV.

Well, the waitlist came through!! Actually got the call about Aug 12th, 4 months after getting on the list! Am now going through the paperwork. 160 pts, June UY.

My guide said there were two pages of people on the list now with 20 or so waiting for June or with no stated UY. So, it's gotten quite long!

Hopefully, I'll be able to use those points soon!

Congratulations! Enjoy your many years of magical vacations! :cool1:

Congratulations :yay:!

After waiting 4 months, is it still exciting? It's great that you locked in the price before the increase! Enjoy your points! They are fun to use and it's easy to burn through 160 at VGC pretty quickly. Before you know it, you'll have addonitis ;).

Welcome Home!

You want addonitis? I'll give it to you in spades.

We were trying to add on at VGC either through resale (we were ROFR'd) or direct, and were on the wit list from May.

When we heard about the price increase coming, I called my guide and asked if we could add our names to the bottom of the wait list so we'd have two separate requests. We wanted to spread out the costs a little.

A week later our names came up and we got our first batch of points, and now we're waiting for the second, because, as you said, the points don't go far in that resort.

So we added on a second time before we had even added on the first time!

Thanks for the Welcome Home, disneydenisel! Well, it has been a bit of a wait and it looks like I won't be able to use it for our October trip, but maybe in Dec?

Now I get to put one of those cool DVC resort tags on my signature line! :cool1:

That was good thinking Breyean, to add on a second time ahead of the price increase!

Hi Breyean,

Great to hear that you got your points, finally! How long did you have to wait on the list before you got the call?

I was very tempted to get on the list before the price increase, but resisted.

Congratulations! We've been wanting to add to our VGC points and waited too long to get on the list before the price went up. We've been looking at resales, but for the lower amount of points we're looking at we fear it will be ROFR'd. We may have to bite the bullet, get on the list, and pay the retail price. UGH! That's painful.

Congrats on finally getting your VGC points! I think in the long run you'll be much happier with VGC instead of a WDW resort.
