How long is the boat ride...

to MK? Getting myself wired up for DAY ONE this Saturday!!! Want to anticipate how long to allow to get to MK in time to possibly be the "Family Of The Day" to participate in the park opening. So how long does it take from departure to arrival by way of boat to MK? And what time do they start running (Park opening is 8am).

The boat ride takes about 15 min but you could wait just as long at the dock for the boat.

Depends on how many boats are running. The line does get long at times and if the first boat fill up quick, then there's another 15-25 minute wait until the next. If they have all the boats running, then it will be quicker. Then you have the stop at Wilderness Lodge to unload and load there.

In Jan. 2008 we didn't stop ar the WL anymore. straight to the MK now. Only had 1 boat running then, but this being busier time I would hope they have 2 running if so 30 minutes should give you plenty of time... have fun fun fun

Depends on how cold it is outside.

lol, just kidding, like others said, about 15 minutes. If you happen to go during the winter months though on one of those freezing cold night, it will feel MUCH longer

And if you're lucky at the boat dock to be chosen for a special escort by the water patrol, it could be less than 5 minutes! We were chosen last October and it was nice but way too fast! I wanted to just stay on and skip MK altogether!

Also, good luck with the Family of the Day. With over 20 WDW trips under our belt, we were only chosen once. Maybe it had to do with the cute little kids we were traveling with. DS(then 6) invited our neighbor's daughter to come with us, she was also 6. While waiting outside the fence near the ticket booth (I had to upgrade the APs) the music being piped out of the speakers prompted them to break into the "chicken dance." A CM stopped and watched, that's when we were chosen. So go teach your kids the chicken dance and see if it works!
