We get off the ship on 12/20 around 8:30-9am (this is in port canaveral which is about a hour to MCO) our flight is not until 2:45. Last year we spend the time at Downtown Disney but I was thinking of doing gatorland this time. How long does it take to "do" gatorland? How far is it from port canaveral and the airport? Does it sound feasible to go there or should we just do DTD again?

Hi Ann, This isn't going to be the post you're looking for....I'm wondering the same thing. Delta pushed out our flight from 2:05 to 6:15pm and we need to find something to do after getting off the ship!

We will probably go to Gatorland also but I also thought about Universal Studios...The Gatorland website says it's a 1/2 day attraction so you probably can choose the exhibits you can see according to your time schedule. Their website is great! www.gatorland.com

Universal for just one day after the ship may be a bit overwhelming, trying to cram it all in, although you do have more time than we do. Also a one day ticket at universal is MUCH more expensive than gatorland... hmmm I am still trying to figure out what to do,, oh well I have four months..

My son LOVES Gatorland . We have had to trek there every year for the past 8 and he is now 15 and we still have to go!! It is really a part of the "Old Florida" and almost a "mom and pop' kind of place.. In it's own way it is very quaint. We always have to have a picture taken with the live alligator and snake. We always feed the gators too. It is only a half day attraction. It will be kind of like culture shock compared to the new modern theme parks but it is kind of fun to see and imagine what the area was like before the huge corporations took over.

We live in the country,, so far this year we have had in our back yard,, one wolf, two coyotes,, one wild cat, one fisher cat, a fox den including mama, papa and five kitts, a skunk, a porkupine,, 8 wild turkeys.. four bears, and now a garder snake has taken up residence on our back porch.. probably interested in the tree frogs.. neadless to say DS LOVES nature and I think it would be a cool place for him to go to,, just wondering if we have enough time??
