How long does it take you to get to WDW?

If it's the whole family, we drive. From Annapolis, MD it's around 15 hours. If it's just 2 of us, we fly. 5 hours if we include to/from airport, wait in airport and flight.

We fly from Portland, OR -- and we always take a red eye when we can. Normally that means connecting in Chicago, Denver, LA, or Dallas. But recently Alaska started operating a non-stop that leaves at 10:25pm. Instead of 8 hours to Orlando, it's less than 5.

Usually we get a little sleep on the plane, but one thing we never do is take a nap when we get to Disney. If you do that, you'll still be on Pacific time and have your schedule off all trip. We always push ourselves to stay up the next day after our flight and get to bed at a regular time, 10 to midnight or so. We fall into bed exhausted, but get up at a regular time the next morning and are fully adjusted to east coast time. We've also done this with longer trips to Europe -- last March we flew overnight to London. We actually booked tickets to see Wicked at the Victoria Theater that first night after our arrival, so we really forced ourselves to stay up! But then, the next day we were fully adjusted to London time, and had no other jet lag effects.

Drive - with stops for fuel and food it takes about 7 - 7.5 hours - (472 miles from one home to the other SSR).

We recently joined DVC and live out here on the West Coast . Looks like much of the DVC membership is East of the Mississippi. I'm interested to see the average time it takes you to get to WDW.
Do you usually fly or drive ?

We live in Columbus, Ohio. To drive straight through, no stops, is about 16 hours. We usually get there in about 17.5 realistically. We hit the drive-through at lunch and stop at dinner. We just need to get out of the car!!! When we drive, we try and drive about 12 hours the first day and then stop in GA. When we get up, we have a 4 - 5 hour drive. That puts us in WDW in early-mid afternoon and we're not exhausted by the time we get there.

The last two trips we have flown. If we watch closely, we can get flights for $80 - $90 one way. There's 4 of us, so it can get kind of pricey, but with gas being $3+ a gallon, a night in a hotel and a LONG drive (though not as long as yours!!! ), it's worth the money!

It takes us about 11 1/2 or 12 hours. We usually drive all the way to Ocala on the first day and then get up early and drive the rest of the way to WDW. We like to do this because it gives us a decent night's sleep and we're still at WDW early the next day to have a full day at Disney. We sometimes drive straight through to get home and it's not too bad. DH and I both drink a lot of coffee/ caffeinated sodas on the way which means - lots of stops! Sometimes our trips take longer due to traffic in Nashville & Atlanta. We try to time it so we don't hit major traffic in either city - but I'm not sure exactly what time Atlanta doesn't have traffic during the daylight hours!

We usually drive all the way to Ocala on the first day and then get up early and drive the rest of the way to WDW. We like to do this because it gives us a decent night's sleep and we're still at WDW early the next day to have a full day at Disney.

This is exactly what we plan to do on our next trip down this November! We are driving down from the Chicagoland area and already have our room booked in Ocala. Last year, we stayed in the town of Warner Robins,GA. and although it was fine, the kids were not happy with Mom and Dad when we told them it was another 5 hours to WDW

It takes about 18 hours or so depending on the usual... traffic, potty breaks, etc...

Starting from just the other side of Charleston, SC, it takes 7 hours with our usual one meal stop (and our stop at the Florida welcome center; gotta get that free cup of orange/grapefruit juice ).

We live on the West Coast also. Since we have little kids, we Drive to LAX from our home in Temecula the night before (about 2 hours) we leave the next morning. The flight is usually 5 hours, however, in January a storm was heading in and we had a great tail wind. We made it from LA to Orlando in 4 hours! Never had that happen.

We live in a suburb just north of Atlanta. We usually drive, and it takes us about 8 hours including stops.

Flying from Grand Rapids takes at least 4-1/2 hours because there are no non stop flights to Orlando out of Grand Rapids. Driving 2-1/2 hours to Detroit will save you about $100 per person round trip and you can get non stop flights to Orlando taking about 2 hours and 40 minutes of flying time.

Driving is about 1262 miles from our home to Disney. When we drive we usually start out on Friday night after work and get about 4 or 5 hours of driving in, stop for the night and then drive all day Saturday stopping for the night near the Florida border and then finishing the trip on Sunday morning. Total time depends on driving conditions and how many stops we make and for how long.

10 Hours driving from NC. The ride is pretty smooth, so I can't complain. It is nice to have the car and take what we want to take. :

With stops and such it takes about 18 hours to drive from central IL. If we fly it is usually about 8 hours or so because it takes:

1. 20 minutes to the airport
2. 90 minutes waiting in the airport (security)
3. 2.5 hour flight to Atlanta
4. 2 hour layover
5. 1 hour to Orlando
6. 30 (or more) waiting for luggage
7. 30 minutes to WDW

We leave on Monday for our Daddy-Kids trip. I'm hoping this time to eliminate 3&4. lmao: yeah right) One can dream.....

From Chicago, fly, about 2 1/2 hours. Chicago is ideal for being able to fly direct to most places. We use Southwest at Midway because it always seems to have fewer delays than any of the others, price is usually reasonable and they have not yet shrunk the area between seats like others have done, e,g., United which seems to believe that your knees are something that should be connected to your chest and that the head of the person in front of you should rest in your lap when he puts the seat back (one of the principle reasons I avoid United like the plague). Have never driven -- when my kids were young and I was asked whether I would ever drive to WDW, my answer was no because that would mean my kids would make me miserable for over 20 hours, instead, we fly and just make everybody miserable for only 2 1/2 hours.

Actual door to door time going is usually about 6 to 6 1/2 hours but that includes grocery shopping when we get there before going to hotel (we always rent a car)

That's right! I thought that seemed to quick. I kept thinking there had to be another delay there somewhere.

We live in Virginia. When we can get a good car rental rate we'll fly. Flight time is 2 hours direct. Car rental rates have gone sky high!

When we drive it is 11 hours driving time but we stop for food, gas and breaks so total travel time is 12 hours.
