If you have a reservation and you check in on time. How long after your reservation time do you wait before you complain about being seated late?

I have never had to complain. We have always been seated early or right on time over the course of our 5 trips (multiple TS ADRs per day).

Perhaps not typical, but I don't have any complains about this process.

I never complain. The longest we have ever waited was about 20 minutes past our ADR at Ohana on a Friday night and the size of people trying to get in standby was HUGE.

I usually give it 15-20 minutes past the ADR time (not the time I check in which may be earlier than that depending on when I get to the restaurant) and then I politely ask for an update as to how much longer it might be.

After about 30 min I will ask, but not before then. I only had an issue once at CP where I had to wait awhile and I think it was mostly due to heavy rain so people weren’t in a hurry to leave the restaurant.

We’ve had some very short waits and some very long waits. I normally go up to the podium 20 or 25 minutes after check in to make sure they didn’t forget us. Not really to complain, but to satisfy myself that they know I am here. LOL! But last time we went we had an ADR for Mama Melrose. They told us at check in they were way behind and the wait would be 20-30 minutes. After 35 minutes, I did complain. Unfortunately, they said it would still be at least another 20-30 minutes. That is when I decided I would never go again during free dining. We had 4 kids with us so we left and ate QS. Since we had arrived and it was their fault, we were not charged the $10 fee. That trip we waited more than 15 minutes for every ADR. At CG we waited over 30 minutes and actually ended up finding a great table in the lounge area and ate there. Who knows how much longer we would have had to wait. Free dining stinks if you are DVC members.

We usually double check at podium about 10-15 mins past ADR time. Just to make sure they didn't forget us or anything. We have to wait with at least 1 ADR every trip, sometimes a couple ADRs (have 20-some trips under our belts...and we do 1 ADR a day...sometimes 2). The latest we had to wait past ADR was like 40 mis. Ohana is the biggest culprit.

I know I won’t be popular with this one. But it is my pet peeve to wait for my table I reserved 6 months ahead of time. If I’m waiting longer than 15 minutes after my reservation time I’m complaining. I spend too much money on a trip to sit and wait.

The only places we've waited more than a few minutes are Cape May (10-15) and Ohana (30). We never went back to Ohana and I personally think Cape May has gone downhill in many ways but my husband still likes it so we will try again this trip.

So interesting! Thanks everyone I thought I was crazy that I don’t really complain about needing to wait (never really waited more then 10/15)

It’s not the restaurant’s fault if guests linger longer than normal causing reservations to back up

Disney’s nomenclature is misleading. You DO NOT have a “ reservation “. An ADR actually puts you in.ine for the next table available for your party size. They are not reserving the table for you like a traditional reservation.

We've had a number of long waits...45-60 minutes in a number of cases. HOWEVER, in all but one of these cases, we were also told at check in how far behind they were. So, it was no surprise that we were still sitting around so long. Even with the one where we waited a little past 60 minutes, I didn't complain...just checked on where things were. The only time where I got more bothered was when one TS spot kept telling us "another 10 minutes" before telling us our party of 6 was a large party and we should expect waits well past ADR time if we're bigger than a group of 4.

We had an issue at Tonys in March. My daughter checked us in as we were running late. They wanted all parties there so she couldn't actually check in. We all finally arrived and I checked us in. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. 45 minutes later I went up to check. Our ADR had been suspended because she checked us in first and the CM at the counter when I checked in didn't actually check us in. So... we waited about another 10 minutes for a table after that. I was frustrated but tried to be nice. I should have checked earlier but just thought they were busy!! And yes, the dinner was good at Tonys.

Eva, we are DVC and never thought about this. How do we know if they had offered free dining during the trip we booked? Like I know that we are going June 30-July 8 this year but since I don't look into promotions, knowing I can't book them, should I just pay more attention in the future? I just skip over any media that says free dining but I never thought to make sure my dates weren't a part of it.

This exactly! I really wish they would change what they call it because it is not a reservation. But they won't. It's just like call ahead seating. You get the next table available for your party after you check in. We've only had 5 people in our group in the past and never waited long at all. Only once at Ohana did it get close to 20 minutes past our time. I'll be interested if when we have 9 people in June if we will have a different experience.

I give it 10 mins tops, then go and ask what is the deal, you are 1000% right, 6mths out and they should be able to sit one at or real close to the ADR and I understand it is a "request", if I can hold up my end of the time and get there on time, they they need to hold up the time requested, if not then there will be a problem........
