how is the distance between parking and the parks?

Thanks for all your fantastic advice everyone :)

DH won though so we are staying at Ayres Hotel Anaheim. It will be a beautiful hotel so I'm sure we won't regret it but I will definitely be soaking up as much advice and as many tricks I can to make parking go a smoothly as possible.

Thanks again :goodvibes

Check out the Candy Cane. It is very close, clean, great service, and has free breakfast.

We stayed at a vacation rental which was past one of the parking lots. We caught the tram once, but every other time over the 10 days we walked the whole way. It was just easier and probably faster, than catching the tram.

This Hotel has the ARTS shuttle you can by passes it is about the same as the parking fee.Nothing wrong with this place but it is too far away.It gets great ratings.

From yelp..

Shuttle Bus to Disneyland is provided by the city (bus #15) and arrives every 30 minutes depending on the day and hour. The shuttle bus comes to right in front of the hotel lobby! Cost is $5 for a 24 hour pass and $3 for one day. The 24 hour pass needs to be bought at the hotel, not the bus. Yes it's 24 hours, so if you start at 12pm, you can use up until 12pm the next day. During weekdays, it's every 30 mins during peak hours and every hour during off-peak hours. Bus goes until 12:30am.

Stay on the 4th floor. Request for it. It's more quiet and the ceiling is slightly higher.

Wifi is free and speedy.

Parking is free.

Breakfast is free until 9:30am. They have the basic scrambled eggs, cereal, bacon or sausage, milk/orange juice/coffee.

I just booked the Ayres Hotel too, for a possible trip in August. I am excited - the reviews are really good (for an Anaheim hotel at least)! Free parking, free breakfast, free wi fi, a clean hotel and a great rate to boot - what is there not to like?

Just to give a bit different perspective - the distance between the hotel and the parks doesn't bother me at all, unlike many on this board. To each his own I guess! We usually stay at the Holiday Inn Anaheim Resort, which isn't in walking distance either, and I actually find it refreshing to get away from the crowds near the parks. I don't like driving in traffic, and it seems silly to drive just to park and get on a tram, so we always use the ART shuttle. I don't mind sitting on a bench and waiting a bit for a bus to come - it's vacation, it's OK to slow down like that now and then! We visit WDW every few years and it's no different than the buses there to me - I find it funny how people speak the praises of the buses at WDW but have such a problem with ART at DLR. I'd much rather wait for a bus at the end of a long day than walk back to a hotel like HoJos (we've stayed there, and it's a nice hotel, it just wasn't for us). We tend to go to the parks in the morning, head back to the hotel for a mid-day break, then return to the parks again in the evening - and I still have no problems with ART.

So relax, the hotel will be fine - and just remember the trip is what you make it!

I've stayed at the Ayres in Orange. It was super nice. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Or try the one in Anaheim. ;) we booked through Priceline name your own price. It was just DH and I so we didn't care about the distance to the parks. I think once our kids get older walking distance won't be a big deal, but for now with strollers, we prefer walking distance ;)

OP be sure to write about your hotel experience with Ayres. They are rated #1 on trip advisor but I never hear anything about them on the Dis. Have a great trip!!!
