How is the DIS bankrupting you?

My packing cubes just arrived last week!
The Frog Toggs were used once and tossed..
Have quite the collection of Disney Vera Bradley's and Baggallini cross bodies.
Had never heard of Aulani until they did a podcast review, that one cost me about $8,000..
The photography board has cost me a bit of money too..

Original poster--you and I are on EXACTLY the same I need to wear dresses = I need athletic sandals = I need an under-dress solution cycle! I've spent so much money on this new-to-me idea of wearing dresses in the parks! It's a little insane. But oh so fun. :)

I gotta ask...what's the pull for wanting to wear a skirt as opposed to shorts? Is it just because they're "cute"? Lol

I bought Sketchers Go Walk - 50% off last price

My Reebook Die at The first Day! They saved my feet!

I bought Teva for Typhoon Lagoon (i am disabled and need support in The water)

Total Investment: 40$. I am a lucky person

Well, now I feel the need to hurry up and get packing cubes before my trip next week. Until reading this, I had never heard of them!

Packing Cubes?? Wow just looked them up on amazon and all have pretty good ratings. Any particular brand you would recommend??

Now that I am the proud owner of 3 new sparkle skirts......I am really trying hard to resist the packing cubes. I hope I have better luck holding out than I did with the skirts. It's getting harder and harder with every glance at this thread..........LOL

I'm embarrassed to post the extremely long list of items I've bought over the years from DIS suggestions.

Best: Sparkle Skirts!! LOVE them!

Worst: Kool Tie neck cooler---just dumb!

forgot to add... when you stay at a value- if you have more than one person- we put up those sweater hangers that hold bulky sweater or shoes... these are god sent when you have 3 draws for 9 days... I bought one for me and the kids and my husband uses the drawers... worth the hassle of bringing them

Sweater hangers...well that's something I haven't thought of. I'll be looking into possibly getting them before my next trip with my DD, SIL and 3 GSs.
Thanks for that idea....I think :sad2:

As I post my list I actually feel embarrassed but as a disclaimer I (we) have been to Disney many times so this list includes stuff from when I first started to spend too much time on these boards.........

I spent a lot of time looking for, and finally finding, triangle shaped crayons for the plane ride . So they wouldn't slide off the tray on the plane when my grandsons colored.:sad2:

Mole skin...not sure if I ever used it.

Trading pins and lanyards.

Matching shirts and matching sweatshirts for. every. trip.

Some type of special plastic cup so the kids snacks wouldn't fall out.

Autograph books...then when they filled up I recently brought a cardboard type picture frame for the characters to sign ( I don't even think my grandchildren are into having the characters sign things anymore but we still have to do it every trip. I think they just do this to humor me.)

Packing cubes, of course

External battery charger for my cell phone. Oh and one for DD's phone as well.

VB cross body Mickey bag. I love it but only use at WDW.

Pirates and Pals cruise, Wishes cruise, Wishes dessert party, Illuminations cruise. We're doing Illuminations cruise again this November.

Disney credit card

And Tinkerbell gifts.....I have 3 grandsons who still believe so 3 gifts X 7 nights...UGGGHHH, I'm so sorry I started this!

Signing up for Tour Guide Mike ( I told you my list goes back a few years) and now Touring Plans. Thank goodness easywdw is free.

Frog Togs. I actually bought these twice. Got them once and didn't really use or like them too much. Then I continued to read how so many people swore by them so I thought I'd give them a second try....Nope, still don't really use or like them too much.

And now I think I must look into Body Glide, even though I don't really even know what it is but so many of you seem to like it.
And as mentioned in my previous post I think I should get the sweater hangers....that seems like something we would need too :rolleyes1

OMG, I can't stop!

I've bought a lot because of the dis boards and now the pod casts are sucking me... First Disneyland, then Aulani... I will be cruising for the first time in 2 weeks. It just gets harder and harder Now fantasy bands and sparkle skirts!!! Hi my name is Monique and I have a Dis addiction.

No! No! No! I am sitting at work munching on a sandwich and went to the Sparkle Skirts website...Must...Have...Sparkle Skirts.

I just left their website. Love them but too rich for my blood.

I bought into Body Glide, Vera Bradley crossbody bags and packing cubes.
The packing cubes are awesome! They help you get so much more into your bag in an organized way.
I think I've also been convinced to buy sundresses and bike shorts and Teva sandals for this year's trip. I must be stopped.

made the mistake of looking up what sparkle skirts are :sad2:

...now i need some :ssst:

but first let me ask, are they REALLY worth $70? I will say that after a few days at Disney, if i'm not wearing long enough shorts, chafing does get to be an issue. do the shorts underneath ride up at all?

I gotta ask...what's the pull for wanting to wear a skirt as opposed to shorts? Is it just because they're "cute"? Lol

For me, they are more comfortable. It also doesn't hurt that they look better than shorts on me.

I love my golf skirts. I looked at the sparkle skirts. I cannot justify spending that much money. Most of my nice golf skirts, I got from Dick's Sporting Goods, on sale.

As far as the Dis bankrupting me, I can say that the only things I have bought, because I read about them here, are frog togs and Vera Bradley bags. With the former, I only used it once, didn't really like it, so it was a waste. The latter, well.... I kind of have a VB addiction now. I had seen VB bags before, but didn't know she had Disney designs until I saw them posted on a few threads, here. The previous VB bags I'd seen, I didn't like any of the patterns or styles. When I saw the Mickey ones, there were two I thought I sort of liked. The Where's Mickey, and the Perfect Petals. I kept gawking at the two of them, and they kind of grew on me. I wanted to purchase them both. Before my trip last year, I had a friend give me an unexpected gift card and I decided to purchase the Perfect Petals before my trip and use it at WDW. I started using it to test it out before the trip and I liked it, and ended up ordering the solid print red one. Then, I got a mall gift certificate and used it at the Hallmark store to purchase the little pink one.
It ended up that I couldn't purchase the Where's Mickey pattern when I got to WDW because there were none to be had by the time I got down there. They went on sale earlier and were replaced by the new patterns. :(

With my birthday money, I got the Cheery Blossoms mailbag, which is the floral print, on sale. The last two, the Marrakesh and Fanfare print, I got on sale after Xmas.

I use these bags all the time. I wish they would come out with another Mickey one in a pattern that I really like. You know, because I need another VB bag. :lmao:

In my case, they have a nicer shape than shorts and the ones I have are flow-y at the bottom so will allow more airflow than shorts and shirt, I think. I don't have enough shorts for a whole week, am afraid that capris will be too hot, so I'm giving them a try for a day or two.

You have several cute patterns there but I'm not getting the whole VB thing. They look like quilted fabric. Is that accurate? I know I'm completely in the minority here but for the money I would something more than quilted fabric.
