How is the DIS bankrupting you?

Ok, I was going to order a 2x because I'm paranoid but I'm not sure now based on your very thoughtful measurements shared. I have thicker thighs but if I go with their sizing I need an XL. So I trust them? I think these look great.

I hate to add fuel to the fire but just finished the Disney leg of our vacation and I will never wear anything but a Sparkle Skirt to Disney again. Bought my first one just a couple weeks ago for our trip after reading about them here. Basic navy. It was the best ever. Even after Kali River Rapids. Did not mind being wet at all. DH said all the women were staring at me wishing they had a Sparkle Skirt.

Need to add: I am a Pooh sized 5'7" and 275 lbs. Size 2x. Apple shaped. Still felt fabulous and cute in this skirt. I went with the slightly longer Hiker Chic style which hit about 1-2 inches above the knee. Felt a little long when I looked down at myself but just the right length when I looked in the mirror.

I also really want to order a Sparkle skirt (or two) but they are soooo expensive.... I am having a hard time taking the plunge... I'm not sure I would really like them. I think I would need an XL (I would be between an L and an XL and I would NOT want it to be tight!!) I would NEVER tuck in my shirt... so I'm not sure how it would look with my shirt not tucked in since all of the shirts are tucked in and all of the models are super skinny... (lol, of course!!)

And it seems like almost every style I like is out!

I normally wear a large size 22 or a smaller size 24. Acording to their size chart I was hitting on the range between the 2x and 3x. I went with the 2x. I fits perfect. Stretchy so there is wiggle room with sizing. My stomach is my largest area so I sized according to my waist measurement. They seem to have really good customer service and say to call with sizing questions, so maybe a quick call would help with sizing for larger thighs or hips.

Lol great thread. Guilty as charged.

So much pandora around my neck I swear I can't look up anymore..

Packing cubes in every colour...

Limited edition pins I raced around the world would stop if I did not get this item haven't look at since..

Most expensive item.... I had never heard of Conceirge on DCL... Omg

Those SparkleSkirts are cute but they seem to be worn very low on the hips (at least that's what it looks like in the photos on their website) are they worn that low? I like my bottoms to rest at or just below the waist, not on the hips.

Mine do not sit low. At waist. So very comfy.

I am intrigued by the Sparkle Skirts, but I'm too cheap to spend $75 for one. Has anyone bought the child's size ones? I'm hoping a large would fit me.

Things I've bought/done because of the DIS:
Frog Toggs (liked them, but need to cut them smaller)
DisneyBounding (fun!)
Dollar store ponchos (Fell apart in the rain; ended up buying Disney ponchos)
Wild Africa Trek (Absolutely loved it)
Star Wars Dessert Party (Expensive but good)
Magical deal (Awesome!)

So, not too excessive so far, but I've got my eye on some packing cubes and the aforementioned Sparkle Skirts now :)

I ordered my first SparkleSkirt HikerChic last week, the RayofLight. It fits great! I'm 5'8" and almost 260lbs so I went with the 2X. Besides socks, underwear, bras, (and shirts I made for Disney trips) I haven't bought myself clothes in years. Really.... years! I finally wore out my favorite shorts last summer and had been dreading shopping this year. Shorts never seem to fit right, but these skirts are perfect. No riding up in the thighs.

So, I'm hooked. I actually just got off their site ordering 2 more skirts, the MakeItBlue and SimpleyDenim. I've gone years not buying clothes and I just bought 3 SparkleSkirts because of the Dis. I don't know if I should thank you for helping me find clothes that are comfy or to shake my fist at you for getting me to spend $$$$$ on 3 skirts! :smooth:

This is close to my own size/dimensions. I thought I'd have to go to 3xl, but you guys are giving me hope. I might see if they'll ship one to the UK and see how it fits and make a decision on any more after that.

Edit to add: U.K. Shipping isn't horribly outrageous (it's awful, but doable), and doesn't increase when you order 2 instead of only 1, so really that's better value right :rolleyes1

Well, I already owned the Merrell Thongs and Merrell Jungle Mocs, spent $1 x 3 for clearance ponchos at Walmart (great find), and $6 for a Disneybounding necklace but...

I bought another Sparkle Skirt. At least it was on clearance. Plus learned that they are going to be at an Expo in Dayton, OH in September. Humm. Only 2 hours drive. May be going on a road trip.

Photo of pooh sized me in the Hiker Chic Sparkle Skirt. This was 2 hours post Pirate Cruise so I am a bit haggard. Sparkle Skirt worked great on the cruise walking up and down the very steep stairs without worry about skirt flying up.

Thanks so much for sharing the photo and what size worked for you. I had never heard of Sparkle Skirts until this thread, but now I just might have to but one. Tee Hee

Well, thanks to your write up and lovely photo, which helped me decide a 2x would work for me, I finally bit the bullet and ordered two a couple of weeks ago. It was a big risk as living in the UK the postage was high, and I got stung by customs (which I expected), but the sizing is perfect and I really like how they feel. They're extremely comfortable. I still feel like they make me look a bit more pooh sized than I feel in shorts, but I'll just have to suck it up. I might have to give them a trial at DLP in September when I'm off to cheer DH on in his first RunDisney event. And then they'll get the proper WDW initiation in Feb.

Luckily I ordered just before our Uk referendum which watched our £ plummet against the $, or else I might have chosen to wait longer.

I ordered both in Hiker Chic style, one in Denim which seems like a great staple colour and will go with any colour on top, then after a few days of dithering I finally decided on the Rhapsody for my second colour. Black background, but some nice bright colours in the print.

I'm 5'9", weigh just under 235 lbs (currently losing) and take a UK size 24/26 on the bottom or 2x (sometimes 3x depending on cut). I can't remember what that size translates to in American sizing. But hopefully that info will also help anyone. I would also say (as others have already on this thread) that their sizing in extremely accurate on the website, so follow their sizing instructions to size up or down as they recommend.

Also a lovely personal touch was the handwritten card inside the package.

So yes, thanks to this thread I've spent more money!!!

My back room has a box full of items I have been buying for our upcoming Disney trip based mainly on advice from this board...

This thread may have the opposite intended effect! :teeth:

Off to check out sparkle skirts, and packing cubes... ugh! :rolleyes1

I am a main supporter of packing cubes. I've been using them for years, long before Dis :) They make packing and organising so much easier. Get each person their own colour and then when you get to your destination unpacking is a breeze. I don't even unpack the cubes, they either stay in the suitcase, or we just move them to our own drawers. Something I hadn't though about till recently is how dust drawers can be, so if you leave your clothes in the cubes your clothes stay cleaner.

What a great thread! Almost all of our "must haves" are listed here already with the exception of our #1 must have:

Camelbacks!!!

They come in a range of sizes to hold a water bladder as well as all the daily essentials you may need. They are small enough to take on rides without getting in the way. We fill them up with ice and water first thing in the morning and bring them to the parks. The pack stays cool and in-turn keeps us cool. When we need a refill we ask for a few cups of free ice water from quick-service restaurants/stands. They make caps to go over the mouthpiece so they don't get dragged in the ground when setting the packs down. Regardless, we carry a few alcohol swabs to wipe them off periodically throughout the day.
I see so many people carrying heavy backpacks and carrying their $5 bottles of water. These things will pay for themselves after 1 trip of buying disney bottled water!
