How is the DIS bankrupting you?

I think the only thing I have fallen for is the Chacos. They felt like way too much support for this flip flop loving girl! However, I have been getting use to them and figured I would try them next week at Disney. Had Jazzfest on Saturday here in New Orleans and my strap broke while I was walking! :( Then I got horrible blisters because we were walking in water . So disappointed. They were way to expensive for that!

I have been using packing cubes for a few years and love them. I even packed with those in a carry on for ten days in Scotland. I was so proud.

I would contact the company or the seller and see about a refund.

I think Chacos aren't meant for me. The arch support is awesome, but they fit oddly. The Vionics I bought are perfect. I'm still not sure they'd work for a full day at the parks. It's weird having such nice arch support!

I haven't been on the dis in a while, but came back to brush up on things before my trip. I was enjoying this thread, reminiscing about the things I've bought over the years due to the dis. Body glide, baggelini, my pal mickey, Mister fans... And then this MONSTER posted!!!

Add this - Ben Nye's Final Seal Setting Spray - to my list of purchases because of DIS. I forgot until a different thread came up. This was great for keeping makeup in place during my August trip.

And then this happened...

Hahahaha! Sorry!! I just used the spray this morning too!

I learned about good athletic sandals, whose existence I was only vaguely aware of before I asked (yes, I asked, my own fault, I know). Now I own 4 pairs of them (but I got them on sale!).

I was going to read through the layers and layers of threads, but then I thought heck, I'll just ask. What type of athletic sandals are you talking about? I don't know what kind to get, so any help appreciated.

Thanks!

LOL. I bought Teva Tiras and Kamik Mustiques which worked very well for me. The girls had Keens Phoebe variety and they were happy in them. The boy had crocs and didn't complain. I had crocs that didn't work so well but they were wedges so that's really on me. If you search on sandals chacos and merrills have been mentioned as good options by people too. There really are a lot of options out there.

Alright, my sparkleskirts arrived today. So comfy and actually much cuter than I thought that they would be.

Next payday I think that I will buy two more. I don't ever wear shorts but I was looking for an alternative to capris and I am very pleased. I'll wear them for everyday use also, they are that comfy.

Ok, back from my trip and here are my thoughts:

1. Athletic Sandals: Teva Tirras and Kamik Mustiques :thumbsup2 Crocs wedges .. . not so much. Kids Keens and Crocs :thumbsup2
2. Body Glide: Lost it after the first day. No one other than me got any blisters and I just got one minor one so I'd call this unnecessary if you're using athletic sandals and dress shorts
3. Sundresses in the park: :thumbsup2
4. Dress Shorts: The cheap cotton ones I got on Amazon (keeping in mind that the hottest it got on our trip was 93) :thumbsup2, the Jockey skimmies are going back because I don't like the feel of nylons and that's what they felt like. I almost didn't wear anything because my dresses were knee length and I thought that they'd be fine. I wore the cotton ones anyway and got a nice gust that blew my skirt up so I'd say they were necessary.
5. Packing Cubes: For a spring time Florida vacay with only one pair of long sleeves and pants, :thumbsup2, our typical trips to Wisconsin during the winter, probably wholly and completely useless because each bag would only hold one sweater or a pair or two of jeans. Kinda defeats the purpose.
6. Trading Pins were a bust, the kids didn't really get into it and there didn't seem to be a lot of CMs with pins.
7. I followed a recommendation and cut the Frogg Toggs smaller. DD7 really liked having them but they grew a lovely pink mold so I'm really done with them.
8. O2Cool misters: :thumbsup2 for keeping the kids cool and entertained. They were kind of heavy by the time you add the battery and water though. And there was much fighting about who got what color since they were a random mix. They did survive 4 foot high drop tests about 50 times during the course of the trip so they're surprisingly durable given that they're just foam and plastic.
9. Glow items: :thumbsup2 They were a hit on the Poly beach and my kids made some new friends by giving them away. They were also helpful in keeping track of each other in the dark.
10. Custom Autograph books: Cute and fun but also kind of heavy and led to upset over seeing or not seeing characters. Overall, I was happy I did them (and got several compliments and questions about them) but probably won't do them again unless the kids really want me to. They took a lot of time.
11. Items to trade with the Jawas: :jumping1: They were the most awesome character interactions we had (sorry, Chewie, you're a close second). My DS3 kept going back over and over trying to retrade what they'd given him. We had to pull him away to give others a chance (there were 3 Jawas in the Cantina at the time so at least he wasn't completely monopolizing them). They liked the slightly broken metal slinkies and gave DS a nice Mickey pin in return. They were happy with the metallic looking heart bracelet and mardi gras beads too.

The only thing I regretted not buying were the collapsible water bottles. Those would have been really handy. I decided we could use the dining plan mugs to bring along water in the parks. They were not water tight enough to just throw in the bottom of the stroller and weren't insolated enough to keep the water cool so they were kind of a pain.

All and all, most of the things I got were pretty useful so thank you, lovely folks on the DIS Boards! I hope everyone else has been enjoying their purchases and that they've been handy on your trips.

:cheer2:

Guess I'm the unusual one - don't remember buying anything that I saw/read about on the Dis.
Have occasionally looked at things (after a trip) that I've seen while at Disney, but haven't necessarily bought anything because of it.

Exactly! I have 4 now and want more!!! I wear them all weekend long, and wear my solid black one to work. So comfy and convenient. I love love love the pockets! Oh and I wore my red with white dots to Disney on Ice the other night :)

The red with white polka dots is one that I ordered. My 7 year old was so excited that I will match her Minnie Dress. Hmm, the solid black one would come in handy. Wow, maybe I need 3 more, lol.

No off to search for water bottles and sandals.

The rest of my packing cubes arrived yesterday, almost ready!

I just had to click this open again......yup. I don't even have the strength to fight the urge to open the sparkle skirts website. I give up. I give in. I WILL own the black one before the end of the day...........Is there a program available for compulsive thread shoppers?

I hate to add fuel to the fire but just finished the Disney leg of our vacation and I will never wear anything but a Sparkle Skirt to Disney again. Bought my first one just a couple weeks ago for our trip after reading about them here. Basic navy. It was the best ever. Even after Kali River Rapids. Did not mind being wet at all. DH said all the women were staring at me wishing they had a Sparkle Skirt.

Need to add: I am a Pooh sized 5'7" and 275 lbs. Size 2x. Apple shaped. Still felt fabulous and cute in this skirt. I went with the slightly longer Hiker Chic style which hit about 1-2 inches above the knee. Felt a little long when I looked down at myself but just the right length when I looked in the mirror.

Ooh I so wish I could get these. It's good to know they really do fit us larger size ladies, but even more depressing to me as I'm in the UK so can't order :'(

Do you know anyone in the US who can order for you then ship to you?
Thanks. I do have family and friends who would, and have been considering it, but they're a lot of money so if I order the wrong size by the time it's reached me it will be too late for exchange.

Our next trip isn't for a while so I've bookmarked the site and will consider it more seriously when we get closer. Though reading everyone's reports on them I'm thinking I might need these in my life for every day.

Those SparkleSkirts are cute but they seem to be worn very low on the hips (at least that's what it looks like in the photos on their website) are they worn that low? I like my bottoms to rest at or just below the waist, not on the hips.

I just got my 2 newest sparkle skirts today, so I now have 5 of them. I can't stop. The only thing that is really saving me from going really crazy on them, is I get killed on the duty and exchange shipping them to Canada.

Mine sits at the waist not below. In fact I thought some people might think it sat a little high. Somewhat adjustable as the fabric is stretchy.

In the last month I have booked a WDW trip for me and dh that was not planned, I bought 5 new dresses for the trip, booked the Epcot Aqua Seas tour, and I'll probably buy the premium F&W pass.
I was here to plan a quick Uni trip with 1 MK day for dd's graduation, but her friends backed out so I decided that I shouldn't let my research go to waste. I mean we haven't been in over 2 years and alot as changed. :rotfl:
