How is the DIS bankrupting you?

Bought Teva flip flops years ago thanks to tips on here.

I also always second and third guess my resort- usually never end up staying where I originally booked. ;)

Had to laugh at this thread. I have a May trip just around the corner, and I've already packed: new Teva sandals, several new sundresses and bike shorts for underneath, and a Disney floppy sunhat, all in the packing cubes I just bought. :) I won't even list all the purchases from 2011-2015 based on posts I've seen here. I will say, in my defense, that at least 90% of those items turned out to be very useful. :D

I'm glad to see the comments about Skechers not having the arch support. I have stupid high arches and my feet ache like mad after a day at the parks of I don't have the right arch support. Heck, they hurt even if I do have arch support.

Have you tried Chaco sandals? I have super crazy high arches too and these are AMAZING sandals for support!!

Party tickets for families with kids that wont stay up past 10!
Honestly, I should have left DH and DD back at the room and just taken DS who was 9. He is my night owl and loves MNSSHP. DD fell asleep right beforethe fireworks! I love Hallowishes!

I had to look up Sparkle Skorts to see what I was missing. :rotfl2: Obviously the point of this thread. You are the second person to mention wearing skorts during vacation. So, while I am reading this thread, I have multiple tabs open looking for skorts. Because I need several pair. I really don't want to do laundry while I am on vacation.

Eddie Bauer has many colors in their Travex line for 40% off right now!

I was doing pretty well resisting the Sparkle Skirts until: 1. I tried on an Eddie Bauer version that did not have anywhere close to nice fitting shorts underneath and 2. I saw on Facebook that Sparkle Skirts is having free shipping with code MOVING thru 4-24-16. They also have several styles on sale, but I went with solid SaluteBlue full price.

Also purchased the Made with Magic Disneyland Ears (liked them better than the WDW print) after I saw a post about those on the Dis (actually saw them on the TV Disneyland 60th Anniversary Special, but did not know they existed in real life). Will get the Magic Wands when we get there. :o

I bought a second pair of Sketchers Go walk today... 14.99$ Canadian
I am blessed in shoe department lol!

A while back there was a post about how being on the disboards negatively affected your planning (as in, you knew too much which caused problems). Allow me to create an offshoot to that - how are the Dis boards causing you to buy more than you should. Allow me to give you an example ...

Long ago in a galaxy far, far away, I was told I needed Frog Togs to successfully navigate any Disney vacation. This was by a real life person. Ok, Frog Togs. :thumbsup2 Except said Frog Togs were heavy, bulky, and were worn a grand total of 30 mins the entire trip. Oh well. Live and learn. But what exactly have I learned (now that I have the disboards)? Ahh, let me tell you.

I learned about good athletic sandals, whose existence I was only vaguely aware of before I asked (yes, I asked, my own fault, I know). Now I own 4 pairs of them (but I got them on sale!). Which is totally necessary because I also learned that sundresses are the way to go in the parks. Oh. I've only recently begun to re-embrace non-wedding related dresses after a 15 year hiatus. So yes, sundress. Got it!

But wait! There's more!

One can't wear a cool, short sundress unless one also wears shorts/shimmies/slipshorts/bikershorts under it or there will be chaffing! I've never had such chaffing, but I've never worn sundresses at Disney World before! So Body Glide (but I justify because my old non-athletic flats cause blisters at work so this is totally dual use!!). And did you notice that? Plural. Plural sundresses. Oops. I'm sure they were on sale. Or maybe they're just breeding in my closet. And if I wear said awesome dresses which don't typically come with pockets (curses, designers of women's clothing), I will need a cross body bag. And then, because I would not want to jump too far into embracing non-wedding related dresses, I need new capris. No, too pedestrian. I need hiking pants! I do. I need them (I hiked 2 mountains ... in 2007). They don't stain and they're cool and light weight and also on sale. Oh, and speaking of lightweight I need misters, because we already established that the Frog Togs are too heavy and bulky. Misters will certainly be better.

And then there's the pins I got my kids to trade, the customized autograph books with colored retractable sharpies (my kids' Disney experience would be totally subpar without them!!), trinkets to trade with the Jawas, wrinkle releaser, and various glow stuff to keep the kids happy without having to take out a second mortgage to get them in the park (never mind that I'm needing a second mortgage just to get to the park).

And then today, was the coups de gras. Packing cubes. I had no idea what they were. I am not organized by nature. Nor does that fact bother me under normal circumstances. I get by just fine. But I was thinking these were some collapsible grids of canvas or something (fabric cubbies?). How would that be useful? Only crazy neurotic over scheduled, over planning, over thinking people would get something like that. Right? Right??!! Oh. They're separate suitcases to put in my suitcase so I don't go pawing through looking for socks on day 1 and creating a complete and total mess of wrinkled clothes (but I bought wrinkle releaser!!!!!!)?

Raspberry small/medium classic/slim combo pack.

I hope you've enjoyed this summary of useful things from recent posts. Please understand that if you were the person to suggest any of the things above, I really do appreciate it. I am just mocking myself and my inability to be rational about what I need and don't need. Each individual item, I'm sure, will be very useful. Taken as a whole ... well, I just need to close the Amazon app and step away.

So anyone else need a Disney pre-trip purchasing 12 step group?
I am one to want to jump every tip I heard as well. then i think about it for weeks or months and never accomplish most of them. Instead of spendign a bunch on packing cubes unless you travel a lot. I use large zip lock bags and pack each kid with an outfit in each bag and label it. the outfit would include clothes, socks, undies, and hair pretties that are needed. I then have a couple extra sets just in case we spill. Zip locks are cheap I can pack dirty things back in them if need be. or thorw them away if i dont want to travel back with them.

Okay, back after many pages, I forgot about the Teva flip flops. I hate flip flops and these are the only ones I found comfortable.

I'm seeing all sorts of people looking into packing cubes now. Ikea sells a fairly inexpensive option (7.99 for 4 in different sizes) http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30235115/
I use them for organizing outfits for the gym and keeping things together in backpacks for school in the between-vacation season. : )

I "need" USB charger plugs for the hotel room now because of the Dis and am looking into backstage tours.

Great idea! I do use plastic bags for a lot of things. Cheap, can be packed, and so flexible.

I ordered 2 sparkle skirts a few weeks ago. I love them so much, that my husband bought me two more! Eeek, they should be here soon as they just shipped today. The price is steep, but they are so well made, so very cute, and the pockets underneath are a dream come true!!!!!

I can't justify the splurge on a sparkle skirt, but I did just buy a really cute tennis skirt from Academy (their really well priced BCG brand) and it is so comfy! The shorts don't go down as far on the legs as sparkle skirts, though they hit at a comfortable height for me - really more like cheer briefs than bike shorts). They do not have pockets, but at $15, I don't mind carrying a small bag. I am just so pleased with the look and feel of them. I can't wait to wear them on vacation this summer.

Ha ha. I'm the one from the poly thread who also bought packing cubes. I agree, but you quite clearly forgot crafting-related things: personalized Disney shirts, Mickey ears, etc. oh and still useful elsewhere but battery charger for the phone and lots of things that are "moisture wicking."

And lest you think that a few homemade shirts never made anyone poor, my "couple" of shirts got up to 28. I haven't admitted that to anyone outside of disboards. I need a support group for my problem. My mom just caught me putting ds's outfits into gallon ziplocs. She walked away muttering something about disney making me anal.

Please be sure to post pics upon your return in said dresses to enable future park goers. Ha ha.
Lol my father in law think I am crazy cause when the kids sleep over all their clothes are bagged and labeled for him

Still managing to resist Sparkle Skirts because I bought a new sofa...and Ouch! I forgot to mention in my previous post how invaluable the portable power source was for the MDE app. We wouldn't have had as much fun without it.
