How is Le Cellier for kids?

I took two young teens there and it was great. They have a "chocolate moose" on the kids' menu. The dessert is in the shape of a moose head. Cute, and tastes good, too. My girls both went for that. We were there as two adults on our last trip, and there was a couple with an infant at the next table. The infant was squirmy and they were not enjoying themselves with all the picking up and passing and putting down...I felt bad that they were spending a lot of money and not enjoying their dinner. I think it probably depends on the kids.

Although kids are fine in most any WDW restaurant (except V&A's) Le Cellier isn't the most kid-friendly around. Again, I'm sure you'd feel comfortable, but it's more subdued with no views of the park and a more laid back atmosphere. It's meant to resemble a wine cellar. You see just as many tourists in t-shirts and shorts as you do business people with suits and ties (it is very popular with convention and Disney management).

Have you been to the Brown Derby? Kind of like that in the sense that it is a bit more sophisticated than most kids tastes. But you know your kids best - if they handle those types of situations well they should be all set.

Good luck!

I think overall its good for kids, however mine were not impressed. They are very picky and both ordered plain pasta with cheese. Neither of them liked it, and this is one of the few foods they actually eat. I tried some and honestly, I didnt like it at all...and Ive never met a pasta I didnt like. ;) Considering pasta isnt their specialty, maybe we shouldnt have ordered it. ;) Other kids meals might be better.

We took 2 year old DD last fall and she liked the breadsticks & pasta with red sauce. It was a little dark, but I think it helped DD calm down a little, plus it had nice, cool air conditioning. The adults loved the meal. Very good for lunch.

As long as your kids can handle a more leisurely pacing at meals, they should be fine. My two boys - 4 and 16 months at the time - were fine at Le Cellier for lunch, despite having, without a doubt, the worst service I have ever experienced at any restaurant ever. (I am not trying to dissuade you from going at all. We saw other customers getting excellent service and the food was good. This particular waiter is notoriously bad, other DISers have experienced him too)

What's the bad waiter's name/description? I want to be prepared if we get him in June.

We took our kids in 2002 when they were 5 and 7 and they did well there - They enjoyed the kids menu and it was nice and relaxing. We are going again in May and looking forward to it :flower:

DD 3 wouldn't eat the all beef hotdogs because they were too tough. Loved the Northern lights drink though. A quiet respite from the park.

We ate lunch there with our two kids last year and it was wonderful. One had the kid's steak ( I think?) and one the grilled chicken breast. They both loved their desserts: chocolate moose and smores. The cutest desserts we saw our whole trip. Now they want to go back for dinner. We had a wonderful young lady server who was friendly and prompt.

and had a great time. I found the food a bit on the salty side but other than that it was really good. My two little ones ate noodles/pasta with butter. It was about $150 dollars for the six of us. No dessert, I had a glass of wine, hubby had two beers. I found the service to be very nice, it is a bit on the dark side but not especially dark. Sort of what you might expect in a restaurant. We did see alot of people without children but saw some families with little ones too. We got a priority seating and I believe it was 4:50 pm, while we were leaving the restaurant there were some families waiting. I would definetely go back, hoping to do so this Nov/Dec. with the DDE card and maybe get dessert, lol!!!!

My 12yo carnivore DD loves this restaurant and requests to eat here each trip.
