How hot is the FJ queue?

I'm wondering about the greenhouse portion in particular. I keep reading that the ride breaks down here and there and then you just stand and wait. I'd hate to be melting while they fix the ride.

It is pretty warm. I was definitely relieved when we made into the castle section. I'd make sure I had plenty of water for the family. We bought two waters in the queue, and refilled them once we got to the first water fountain.

I like the idea of the water because we can just toss them before getting on the ride. I appreciate that! I have a tiny misting fan too if I can just get it in my pocket.

Why in the world did they go for a greenhouse area?

Worse than the greenhouse area is the wait outside before you get to the locker area to put your items in the locker. There's no shade and if the sun is out and it's 95 degrees and it takes 20-30 minutes to get to the lockers it's not fun.At least in the greenhouse it's shaded and has some fans.

Oh yes, tiny fans are a lifesaver. Besides our water, we had two non-misting small fans. We got them years ago from my Dad's company picnic. Best. Freebie. Gift. Ever. Other people would look at them longingly, and when we turned the fans and blew them their direction, you would think we had given them the gift of gold.

Maybe everyone should stop by guest services and suggest shade canopies for the outside ride line and installation of a misting system for the green house?

We found it to be ok at night during the day we went the line wasn't cued outside only along the wall and through the greenhouse. Might have been due to crowd not really being there.

there are actually water fountains throughout the main greenhouse area. Water is definitely a good idea. I had a 500ml bottle and it fitted inside my bum bag (or fanny pack as my american friends would say).

If the line is 60 minutes, how much of that wait is in the greenhouse?
That's a good question. From what I've been able to determine, the lines keep moving pretty fast while FJ is up and running but screech to an abrupt halt often as the ride has issues. I'd love to hear more about that time though.

It seems like over half the wait is outside. Once you get in the castle, it goes pretty quick. We went once with a 90 minute posted wait (actual time about 75 minutes), and we wound around several turns, before we even got to the greenhouse. That part is not covered, but had misting fans going. With a 60 minute wait, we skipped that portion of the line.

So of that 60 minutes, how much of that was in the castle? How short would the line have to be to not be waiting outside?

I consulted the timestamps of the photos from when I went through the line. The first time it said 150 wait, and it took about 90min, with one 15 min breakdown while we were in the greenhouse. The photo of my parents at the entrance to the Castle part was :52, the picture I took of the sorting hat, which is after the test seat, and right before load was :06. The second group of photos: right at entrance :35, and I have a pic from the Common room at :49.

So about 15-20 min from when you enter the castle. And most of that wait is the line stopping to take photos.

I agree, about 15 minutes once you get in the castle. And that is not long enough to see everything, we missed a lot of the message from Harry, Ron and Hermoine the first go round, and did not see it snow in that room the first time either. I also missed most of what Dumbledore said both times around in his office.
