I know sushi is very high in protein and low in fat. But, is it really a good dieting choice? I've always thought if you stay away from the types containing cream cheese it is okay.

According to my counselor at LA Weight Loss Sushi is very healthy. Try to stick with the sashimi to stay away from the rice and especially watch what they put in the rolls. Unlike other foods though there aren't any hidden ingredients in sushi.

I have a few sushi bars and will say that sushi can be quite healthy. However, lots of sushi is very americanized. Stay away from the rolls with cream cheese and the rolls with tempura (deep fried) anything and you should be okay. And keep in mind that one roll (the whole roll of 6 or 8 pieces) has about a bowl of rice (maybe 1/2 cup or so ) per roll so be careful all of that rice can add up. It never ceases to amaze me the people who come in and order a couple of rolls and then want a bowl of rice too...that's alot of rice!
