How has Toy Story Mania been at RD recently?

Any recent experiences? Had planned to do RNRC at RD and have 10:15 FP booked for Toy Story but am contemplating swapping these. Is Toy Story less crazy and/or faster with the 3rd track now?

This will be on an EMM morning if there are any guesses on how that'll pan out... maybe slightly lighter at TSM if some are already done with it?

Yes, swap them. We were there a few weeks ago. We had an early morning FP+ booked for TSMM once and that was a mistake. Standby line was probably 10 minutes. By later in the day, it'll go up to 30-40 minutes, but it's tons better than it used to be. RnR still gets busy really quick.

Thanks! I did go ahead switch it, just my husband's actually since we'll be doing rider swap with my 2yo. This should cover us for both rides plus an extra round on TSM for the rest of us. And we're set if my 9yo does decide to go for RNRC. And somehow we end up with extra time on my touring plan, score!

Does TSMM have rider swap?

No, just RNRC. So my husband will miss out on the 2nd Toy Story ride but I can go on it with the boys. Or we can swap bands if we're so inclined in the moment.

Reminds me of our early morning at California Adventure a few years back... I was pregnant with my younger one and couldn't do California Screamin' but husband went on it about 5x while older son and I stayed on Toy Story for about 4 rides straight. It was fantastic! Like the new EMM at no extra charge.

If you can get your 9 year old onto RnR, go for it. My twins turn 9 next week. They rode RnR for the first time last summer, when they were 8. They were scared, especially my daughter...she is rather timid. She cried the entire time in line and squeezed my hand really hard. When the ride stopped, there were still tears in her eyes, but a smile from ear to ear. She now LOVES the ride, as do all my kids.

Good to hear!! My son has been pretty timid with a lot of rides in the past, but I'm hoping he's a little more comfortable this time around. He says he will be, and put riding RnR at 50/50. I won't push on the thrill rides, but will definitely encourage him to consider it. At least RnR is over fast. And with the FP and rider swap we're not dependent on single rider for a quick line, which wouldn't work for him.

Funny you should ask this. We too were set for TSMM FP+ right after we drop off our cooler and check-in at SSR on a Sunday. I had already decided to switch our FP to RNR for me and 8 and 10 year old. They said they were fine with not riding TSMM if we couldn't get to it. So I did that and then new hours were released, stating that our HS day is EMH AM. So I've been stalking the Lines app because I don't know when we'll actually get to the park at this point. We're set to use our last FP at 2:25 so I hope that I can snag TSMM ones at that point, as the inventory as been pretty good at that time of day.

Perhaps people's definitions of not too bad a wait is different than mine. Lines is showing that TSMM had a 41 minute wait at rope drop today, and 82 minutes an hour later. I would use a fastpass to skip a 40+ minute wait, but that's just me.

Yeah, I guess it's a bit of a gamble either way, though it does seem like TSMM wait times are generally trending down with the 3rd track.

I also just read this in someone's trip update, from this past Saturday:
"At RD, I headed to TSMM and rode 2x in less than 30 minutes. DH rode RnR, then ToT twice, then met me at TSMM and we rode it together. All this before 10 am! (9 am opening)"

We were there about three weeks ago, mid week. For the first time in years, we managed to get a FP, but the wait time at around early evening, was down to 30 min. So we rode it then, and then used our FP later to ride it a second time. The wait time did increase a lot by the time we had our FP.

My situation exactly. I now have my husband booked for RNR and older son and myself for TSMM. We'll RD TSMM and use rider swap on RNR so I can ride too.

We were at DHS yesterday, shortly after opening. The standby line for TSMM was 20 minutes. So yes, the 3rd track really helps.

We were at DHS on a Saturday in June (crowd level 8). We did RnR at rope drop (took about 15 minutes). We got to TSMM at 9:20 with a posted wait time of 20 minutes. We were on and off of TSMM within 15 minutes. We had a FP scheduled for 10:30 that we also used. We were also able to schedule two additional FPs (for 8 people) later that afternoon and evening. That's the first time we've ever been able to ride TSMM 4 times in one day. And it sure was nice not to be part of the running-of-the-bulls at rope drop. We were still in that pack, but the mass of people heading to RnR was much smaller than the one heading to TSMM.

Very similar experience on a Saturday in July. I did TSMM RD x 2, done within 30 minutes of opening, DH joined me (after RnR and Totx2), and we rode TSMM standby within an hour of opening. Rode a 4th time later in the day with FP+. Seriously, the 3rd track has totally changed crowds/timing of TSMM!

I am so excited to hear this info! Due to health concerns I can't ride RnR or ToT so Toy Story is my speed! LOL and I hate only getting on it once in a day.
