How fast can you plan a trip?

Hello all my fellow dizzers! I was just wondering how fast you can plan a trip to WDW? More to the point, how much time do you need to plan a trip for first timers? My SIL's family is planning on going at the end of April 05, and they want me to plan their trip. I have no problem doing this for them ( other than it makes me want to go), but I want to make sure I have enough time to see what they like and what they'd be interested in doing. At this point they don't even have hotel rezzies made, and I don't want them to come back and say they had a horrible time. As we all know planning is the key to a greta trip, and part of the fun! SO how much do I need to push them to get info for their trip?

First off...they CAN"T have a bad time...it's WDW :)
Find out if they want all the parks...onsite hotel...and nice dinners? They know things they DONT want to miss...and maybe you know things they will love...other than that...it'll be great!

Me...if I found out I was going tomorrow...I'd plan it just fine!!!

I would definitely start now. We planned a family trip back in December 2002 with my aunt, uncle, and cousins who had not been in years. We ordered a vacation video (I've begun collecting them every year - at this point I have them memorized) and watched it as a family about 10 months ahead of time. We all sat down after the video and talked to them about our past trips, what we liked and didn't, and set a definite date & made ressies. Then, we'd get together about once a month to plan different ideas for the trip. You probably wouldn't have to make reservations as far in advance as we did though - we were going for New Years Eve and knew it would book up faster - but you could go ahead and order a video any time.

Normally I'd agree with you, I CAN"T have a bad time at WDW, however, you don't know my SIL...lol or her DH for that matter. They can turn any trip into a miserable time, which is why we may pass on going with them, and why I'm asking how much time I need to try and plan a fun trip for them. I'm the same way, if it were us, I could do it in 24 hours, but them, I'm afraid it's not going to be that easy!

They are going at a potentially busy time with Spring Break and Easter in there. They may need a little prep talk about getting to the parks early, whether EMH is right for them, etc. I'd get the resort booked asap, after that you'll have plenty of time to get PS, ressies for shows, etc.:earsboy:

In 2002 I planned a WDW trip in 22hrs!

Got PS at Chef Mickey's and O'Hana's
got MVMCP tickets
the first night there DH & I were on the floor in the middle of the night redoing our budget

I found a great WDW book - goot for people who can even turn someting at Disney bad!!! The UNofficial Guide To WDW - he's very unbiasses, and there are MANY reader reviews. My recommendation, have them read the book! Then they can tell you what they think of any recommendations you make before they go. Can't place as much of the blame on you that way.... Good luck!
