Connecticut's first Krispy Kreme opened this morning in Newington (near Hartford) People were lined up for hours and there were people from Boston! Mind you I have loved Krispy Kreme for years after discovering them down South but I don't think I would drive that far for one:confused: Would you??

No, I wouldn't go that far!

It's just a donut!

Nope. Wouldn't drive that far either. But I'm lucky, when I have a taste for them the one by my house is only 1 1/2 mi. away and they just put one in downtown Chicago a few weeks ago, a short distance from my office building.

I wouldn't go to the end of my driveway. As Blondie said, it's just a donut, and not a very good one IMO.

I picked up 2 dozen this morning on my way to work. Some of my staff members worked through the night with some installers to upgrade one of our software systems. I promised them breakfast, and I even said to the women working there that I hoped that the guys that are here from Birmingham don't have a KK close by them so it would be a real treat for them. Unfortunately, they only had hot chocolate donuts while I was there and not hot glazed.

I love KK's, but I wouldn't drive that far for one! Fortunately, the Speedway by my house sells them! :)

Well, I went all the way to WDW to try one, but I didnt go just for that reason. ;) They were very good and definitely better than Dunkins, but I wouldnt go to CT just for one.

The closest KK hot off the press restaurant is about an hour's drive (Chattanoog). I don't make a trip to go there specifically, but if I'm in the area, I will stop and buy some sometimes.:) My local grocery store sells them too.:) But I love the fund raiser drives where they come straight to me when they pick them up from the KK in Chattanooga.:)

I wouldn't drive that far for them, but boy, I do like them a lot. We can get them in some supermarkets by me, but the really good (read HOT) ones are about an hour away, but it has become a detour on the way to the Disney catalog outlet!

right in front of our noses for breakfast...but having something sweet in the am made me yuck so we had a TUbbies special

Ummmmmm........... about 30 miles!!!:o That's the closest one to us - and a Dunkin' Donuts in about the same distance, but in the opposite direction.

But we usually make the donut run a combined Barnes & Noble one.

The closest one to me is in CT.
We have Dunkin Donuts and Honey Dew on practically every corner, but no KK.
I wouldn't drive specifically to CT for a donut, but if I'm in the area anyhow, then I would probably stop by.

Don't get me wrong, I love them but I've never gone out of my way for them.

I've been fortunate enough to be close by to swing in if I see the "hot doughnuts" sign on whenever the urge hits.

It was fun in college because guys and girls weren't allowed in each other's rooms and the girls lobby closed at 11:00PM. If we needed a "study break" we would go to either the Waffle House, Whataburger or Krispy Kreme because they were open all night!

Oh this is so unfair! I was actually day dreaming about Krispy Kreme doughnuts today :(

55 days till discon - 55 days till doughnuts!

I would walk the 0.3 Miles it takes to get there. :teeth:

The closest KK to me is about 30-45 minutes. Although I’ve never driven there JUST for that, I have made it a point to stop there if I was in the area. When it first opened, a heated tent was put up for all the people waiting to get in. They’re going to open one 5-10 minutes away from me in a couple of months. It just happens to be on my way to work. I love the plain glazed.

I don’t usually go to the Duncan Donuts near me. For some reason, they never seemed to have my favorite kind, chocolate crème. But there is one in Oswego, NY that I’ve gone to a lot this summer, while I was away for the weekend.

Several Tim Horton’s have just opened around here. I haven’t tried their donuts yet, but some people I know have and weren’t crazy about them. I didn’t like their coffee, either. But their soup, sandwiches, and coffee cake are good.

Huh... I guess you'd go further than I would :p I'd go as far as picking up some while I was at the grocery store. To me they are just donuts and nothing special about them at all really.

Well...... @$#%^&***@##$ - now I want a dozen of donuts!!

Yes, I would. I love them, but only hot ones. To me there are more than just donuts. There are not many sweet snack I can eat that don't make me sick. KK are one that I can eat (only 2) and not get sick. Stephen and I have been to the nearest one twice in the last three weeks (about 40 miles away) and they did not have hot ones. Both times they were out of originals and it would be 30 minutes before any more were ready. I was so bummed. We are trying again this weekend, I hope we get hot ones. I love them.

There is a bakery just around the corner and down the street a touch that beats Krispy anyday. :) It's a local store and they are good. People come from across town for them.
