How far away is the ocean to where you live?

We're about an hour from the most of the southern beaches in NJ.

We can be at the ocean in 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic. On a warm weekend during the summer, it takes a lot longer!

I'm in southeast TN, & the ocean is TOO FAR away!

I really think I've been "misplaced." I'm a beach girl & NEED to be closer to a southern beach! The ocean waves & that salty air is just part of my soul.

We're surrounded by mountains & within probably 3 hours of Gatlinburg. Everyone is always like, "Ooh, beautiful mountains!" And I'm like, "Eh... it's a mountain."

So I decorate our house like we're living at the beach & pretend. One of my favorite compliments ever is when my niece came into our house & said, "Ooh, Aunt Wendy, your house is like a condo in Florida!"

Until you look out the window.

ITA!! The beach is my happy place and the air is my favorite part. Your last line made me laugh. I have beach touches in my house too while living in a state surrounded by cornfields.

We currently live 23 hours from the beach. We drive back every year and I hate being so far away. We used to live 3.5 hours away and could go for the weekend sometimes.

My retirement goal is to be closer to the water. I found out that my dad & I both want our ashes scattered at the same place near our favorite beach. He wants his in a beer can, then scattered. I'm flexible on the container. Thankfully my DH & kids are all beach people too. I cannot wait to get to the beach this summer!!!

3 minutes walking down a path and dirt road in the summer, 45 minute drive the rest of the year. We move. The beach doesn't.

6 miles to Point at this time.
I used to live 15 blocks straight down the road to the beach in Bradley Beach.
I'm a Monmouth/Ocean county girl for life (so far).

Grew up in W. Belmar. Could walk to the beach. A little farther now but not much. Jersey Shore native.

1/2 a block. There is a beach access right at the end of our street.

We are on Vancouver Island so we are surrounded by the Pacific Ocean.

About 15 minutes if the traffic is heavy. We are on the mainland in Vero Beach so we have to cross to the island to actually see and wade into the ocean.

Still, it beats being 1.5 hours away in NH.

4 blocks to the beach. About 1/2 mile. A nice 10-15 minute stroll away. Quicker by bicycle.

About 5 miles straight east. Keys are about 1 hour south. Everglades are 5 miles west. Florida west coast is about 2 hours west. Can be at Matheson Hammock in 15 minutes and Black Point Marina about the same

2 1/2 hours to Va Beach. My sister lives there, and we go down 2-3 times a year.

30 minutes. I live on the FL/GA line, but go to the FL beach because it is a tiny bit closer. I actually just got back haha!
