Ten minute to lovely Palm Beach County beaches. It's nice but I never go. I grew up a few towns south of Asbury Park on the central Jersey Shore, where most of us are as pasty white as our Irish grandmas. A lot of local only go at night and during hurricanes. The tv show "Jersey Shore" was shot further south and I'm pretty sure they were not "From the Shore" they were "Down the Shore" or "Bennies" (see, http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benny_(slang).
Locals would spend the summer looking for a parking spot and kicking drunk bennies off the lawn so I hate when people think of that when they hear "Jersey Shore". It is so much cooler than that, lol
I live 2 blocks from the ocean. Our house is on a lagoon and we can walk 2 blocks to the ocean or 2 blocks to the Barnegat bay. At night i can hear the ocean and its wonderful!!!
OP If I am right based on fees, my daughter goes to this beach for high school. The entrance is about 8 miles from us. The closest sand is a Bay beach that is about 2.5 miles from home.
Other side of the highway. At night, like a poster a few posts up, you can hear it loudly (during the day, I hear cars on hwy 101). Love to sleep with the windows open.
