My Mum lives approx. 130 miles from us, a 4 hour drive.

When my dad passed away we moved my mom in with us. So my mom lives RIGHT HERE! I love having her here. She is one of my best friends and she and my DH get along great! She has her own little apartment on the side of our house.

DH's mom lives in the same town. His dad passed away when he was 6.

4 hours to drive 130 miles?!?! I realize you are in the UK but WOW! That's 32.5 miles per hour.

My parents are 650 miles (about 13 hours here in the US or 20 hours at your rate) and DH's parents are 40 miles (about 45 minutes) away.
