How easy is it to change name on booking?

Well, I have sad news....my boyfriend and I broke up a couple of weeks ago. Lots of stuff, emotional and otherwise, to deal with obviously, one thing being the DLP trip we had booked for June.
My best friend has agreed to come with me instead, I definitely need some magic to look forward to right now!
So my question is, will Disney charge me extra for amending the booking to her name? Has anyone done this before? I've only paid the deposit so far.

You can change a name no problem at all with Disney for a hotel only booking (ie no travel included), as long as the name you want to change is not the lead name on the booking. Just email them and give them the new details, there will be no charge.

That's great news, my name is the lead name so shouldn't be a problem Thank you!
We are planning on a longer trip too, with a couple of nights in Paris and a couple in London too.
Still hoping for 40% off HNY upgrade so I'll see if that appears in the next few weeks and will change the name at the same time as upgrading

Awww hun i'm sorry to hear about you and your boyfriend but the good news is you won't have a problem changing his name on the booking as you are the lead passenger (same thing happened to me about 6yrs ago i don't remember disney charging to change his name and it was about 4weeks before we were due to go). You'll have a fab time with your best mate and it will give you something to look forward too.

Awwww really sorry to hear that...

I changed the name on our booking from MIL to DH and, as mentioned already, it wasn't a problem as I was the lead name on the booking and it didn't include travel, so you should be fine.

I'm sure you'll have a great time with your friend!!

Thanks for your kind words everybody, its been a difficult start to the year. We had been together 4 years and were living together.
Anyway, I'm glad I still have a DLP trip to look forward to, and in a weird way its good I never managed to get him to go because I don't have any memories there with him. Does that make sense?! I wouldn't want DLP to make me sad.
I got good news this week too though, have somehow managed to secure a great graduate job for September (much better than I expected to find!) so many DLP trips and maybe even Florida are in my near future, hurrah.
