How early should we arrive at Kennedy Airport?

I don't have a clue anymore as to how early to arrive at the Airport. Are the lines for security reasons very long?

I'm flying JetBlue next Saturday at 8:05 AM. If I arrived at the Airport around 6 AM is that too early?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. I've waited too long for this trip to mess up!!

I would think that to be fine, BUT.....I think their website has suggested times of arrival.

hi Linda, how are you?
dbf and i flew Song airlines out of JFK in June.
we're really paranoid about missing a flight ('cause that happened to us once three years ago) so we always try to go early.

we had a 10:30am flight on a Sat morning, so we aimed to arrive at JFK around 8:30am.
we were a little late, and got there at 9am i think? i can't remember for sure. i know i was really worried, but then everything turned out fine.
anyway, the lines were very short at Song's terminal.

i don't know how Jetblue's terminal is nowadays. we haven't flown Jetblue since before 9/11.

they seem to recommend 1 hour before the flight is good.
i'd say anything less than 1.5 hrs ahead of time is too risky though.

disneyberry - how are you? Are you just loving the DVC??

I checked the website (thanks for the link) and they are suggesting 60 minutes. I was just thinking that with that new "alert" that was put out this week I may just go the extra half hour. I too would absolutely "freak" if I missed the flight due to long security lines!!!

When we flew Jetblue in May (just 2 of us) and Jan (there were 8 of us then) we arrived 90 min ahead. We took their 1st flight out each time. Everything went smoothly. We had time for coffee and some breakfast at the food service area in the terminal. They have bagels, cereal etc. Better safe than sorry.Also noted that they start boarding about 30 min prior. Have a great trip.
