How early can you check in?

For our next trip we're thinking of checking in very early in the morning. How early are they able to check people in?

I seem to remember something about their computer systems needing to restart each day early in the morning, does that still happen?

And out of curiousity, I wonder how they handle people who check in at very early hours (say 2am-6am)?

I don't think you will be able to check-in that early without paying for that night.

We have checked in very late only once. They will print out the ressies for those arriving after midnight and have them already with your room keys when you arrive. As mentioned above, you are paying points for this for the previous night in order to arrive late.

If you want to check in at 7 am or later, the computers are back up and running then and you are charged points from that day on. They will issue you room keys and you will be able to call in later in the day for your room number, which usually is ready around 4 pm.

We don't expect to be able to get into our room until after 4pm, but we'd like to get our room assignment then.

I was under the impression that DVC check in was like 5pm. Unless like the previous poster said you've paid for that day.

I wonder too because I would not be happy to be sleeping next door to someone checking in at 2am-6am. No matter how quiet you try to be it's going to be noisy. I am a very light sleeper unfortunately for me. I woke up every time someone went down the hall last time we were at the BC.

On the up side you'd be ensuring your neighbors wouldn't miss ropedrop! :rotfl:

They can check you in anytime, its really a matter of whether the room is available. Our last trip we did a split stay between VWL and SSR. I called the SSR front desk the night before and they told me they were at capacity but check again in the morning. So, I went over to SSR as soon as I got up (around 6 am) and as luck would have a room was ready. So I raced back to VWL loaded our stuff into the car, did a drop off at the room then headed to the parks. Like everything else it is timing and luck!

Ooh, well that's a horse of a different color then. Wonder if they'd be more likely or less likely to honor room requests at that hour...

WE won't be checking in any earlier than 7am, and won't be entering our room until the afternoon. I was just curious about how those early morning people do it (or if they can). And I guess you've never encountered noisy people coming back from the parks very late at night (early in the morning), huh? :)

Thanks for sharing your experience.

No need to get testy. The comment was not meant as a personal attack on you, but as surprise that Disney would possibly allow that. And yes I believe I indicated in my post that I woke up when I heard people out in the hall.

lol I wasn't testy. I was joking with you! :)

Yeah, I wonder too. We aren't picky, but we don't want the bottom of the barrel. We're going Christmas week so there are going to be a lot of people checking in the same day as us.

We have checked in as early as 6am before.

On one pre-DVC trip we stayed at the All-Stars. We weren't tired and decided to drive straight through from CT and arrived there at 3am. They checked us in as if it were the next day and didn't make us pay for the extra night (which we were expecting to have to do). I did have to go down the next morning to check in again though, since their computers had not been set to that date at 3am.

That's great they did that for you.

ANOTHER AWESOME CHECK IN TIME. Congrats.

We have always gotten to the World a day or two early and stayed either offsite or in a regular room for a day or two before moving to DVC property. In all our stays, I have always gone over and checked in about 7 to 7:30 am on our checkin day with no problems. We have even had a room ready and available about 2/3 of the time even at that early time. This happened once even during Christmas week.

We checked in at 7:30am last time - our room was not ready until almost 4:00pm though - but they did take our luggage for us and we went into the parks.

I can confirm that checked in at 7:30 am, and with a little pixie dust my room was available (though I would never expect it before 4:00PM). One of those nice occasional perks of being DVC over CRO.
