How does vandalism and looting accomplish anything???

I can only guess if a cop pumped 9 bullets into your unarmed child's head that you wouldn't be against these so called riots. There are MANY eyewitnesses who have the same story - the boy ran, stopped, and put his hands in the air and then executed. First the cop car had a dash cam then it didn't. Now the officer is on paid vacation. Welcome to the 1960's again, except more cities were on fire then.

This is disgusting.

So that makes it ok to loot businesses? How about if they had a town meeting instead? Their opinions would have been a lot more valid if they had not committed criminal acts. Does the looting give them more credibility?

I will not tell a people that have had it with the police and have reached their boiling point, NOT to react or how to react!!! FYI, don't listen to the media about what is going on...he did NOT wrestle with the police, push the police or try and grab his gun! There were eye witnesses that saw what happened... multiple. Just search #ripmikemike on twitter ... this happened in a very crowded apartment complex, with many watching.
They are rioting business that profit from them and profile them EVERY DAY. Burned the QuikTrip down because they said "ok, maybe he stole a piece of candy" as this somehow justifies him being executed while his hands were in the air.

If you don't know what these communities have to face DAILY, I don't think you are in a place to judge. Some people are MLK Jr's. some are Malcolm X's ... if you don't live there, you don't know what they are facing.

The reaction to loot is ok. Your post makes no sense. Sam's and Hobby Lobby make money off of me. If I get ticked off, I have the right to loot their business?
What about what the police have to face daily?

It's not to be understood. It's not the actions of people thinking rationally.

No we can't wait for an investigation because the investigation will lead to what it always leads to when police kill African Americans. No where.

That's where the anger comes from. you have over 200 years of an unjust system maiming and killing your youth. you no longer believe in the system.

I certainly don't. I know that at any time the police can kill my sons for absolutely no reason and not a dang thing will be done.

No I don't condone looting but I do not in any shape, form or fashion trust the legal system in this country.

So what you are seeing is a group of people who no longer have any thing to lose. the police will kill us when they want, any time they want and get away with it.

Not a thing has change since 1619 when the first African slaves were brought here. We are still a disposable people.

Government leaders in 1619 were Caucasian. Today we have an African-American President, an African- American Attorney-General, 44 African-Americans in the House and Senate, and 650 African-American mayors. I think things have changed since 1619.

We have African-American police officers in our small southern town and the African-American community prefers Caucasian officers responding to their calls because the African-American police officers are harder on them.

If where some of you live is that bad, why not move? It might be a longer drive but if it means you and your children are safer, it makes sense, doesn't it? I'd take a loss on my house to move if I felt like my family was in danger.

Stop and Frisk was one classic example of racial profiling at its best in the New York City. Here in the Buffalo the answer is have to a gun buyback program where people turn in guns for a small amount of money. This is our mayor's brilliant idea of how cut the crime rates down. What a crock of bologna. Once again even the Mayor, who is a black man, makes himself look good on paper and in the limelight of a camera and thinks this is the answer.

In 2013 NYC had 332 Homicides and Buffalo had 34, NYC population is about 8.5 Million people and Buffalo is 260,000. Homicide rate in NYC is .004%. Homicide rate in Buffalo is .013% or 4 x Greater than NYC. I'll take Stop and Frisk. By the way please do some homework and find out who is doing the crimes and where it is ocurring.

You alter the mindset by giving the same opportunities for all regardless of the color of your skin. People living in poverty, again regardless of the color of their skin, are more prone to commit crimes. In our city there is such hope for our downtown reconstruction as there is a lot happening. But if you were to travel down one of the many side streets you will run into poverty very quickly. The politicians in our city have turned their backs on people living in poverty. There is not enough done to lower the crime rates here in Buffalo and this has become acceptable to many. To me it is disgusting.

That's what should happen, but we all know it won't. And the fact that every program designed to improve things has been a complete failure jus makes folks less interested in going back down that roads again. The "bad neighborhoods" won't ever improve until the people who live there decide that's what they want.

Just so you know we are having more protests this evening and tomorrow.

Heavy police presence in several areas right now. Hopefully we do not see a repeat of last night.

Oh I am sure there are plenty of young black men that are taught how to "behave" when in the presence of police. And for the rest of your post: stereotype much? There are plenty of people here in Buffalo, especially the white people, who are involved in drug dealing and prostitution. Only when it comes times for sentencing after they are arrested they are less likely to receive a harsher sentence than a young black male. Think our criminal justice system isn't racially biased? Think again.

I never said the system isn't biased. I simply stated that instead of the community (and by community, I meant the community in STL, not the African-American community--I'm sorry if there was any confusion on this) coming together to loot and set things on fire, they should take that energy and put it to a better use.

There are many problems within our justice system. One way to combat the problems within the system is to not become part of that system.

One way to not become part of that system is to have the community battle those forces. As I said, kick the drug dealers to the curb, push the gangs off the corner, and tell the youth that those ways are not acceptable. But until the communities in question (places like Detroit, or STL, or even West/North Jax) take a stand and put a stop to their behaviors, the problems will continue.

The women out here in Franklin County are ready to riot over the Channing Tatum episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls being preempted for the news conference :lmao:

Wait there are hundreds that are murdered in inner cities such as Detroit and Chicago. Young African American people including toddlers are dead because of shootings by inner city gangs.

This kind of violence happens every day. Where is the outrage? Heck where is Al Sharpton? Enough said.

I have thought this many times. Just finished a google search for black on black violent crimes, it's so discussing. Maybe the media doesn't cover it?

But I'm a white chick so I shouldn't care, nor talk about it.

Quicktrip is a great company. They treat their employees well and hire all kinds of people or at least they do here. No matter what the victim was charged with these criminals (and that's what they are) had no right to burn down the store.

I personally don't buy that they were angry and frustrated alone. I'm sure that many people feel that way and didn't set fire to anything or steal anything. I doubt that most rational people will immediately decide to steal a TV when they get angry.

Not to mention that the most deadly place for an African American is in the womb. :sad2:

The mentality of these crooks are free things and I'm going to get mine. The politicians win this crowd over, by offering free things from the taxpayer. The looting in the '60's were brutal and often. I'm old and remember them well.

I also don't see how the illegal immigration into the USA can be justified as OK, but some people see it as great. They are for no borders, hence no country.

We live in strange times.

Once people riot and loot in response to anything, they lose my sympathy.

And I don't really care what color they are.

Given the fact that I work with the Buffalo Homicide Unit on a daily basis as a consultant I have done my homework significantly. I have a Masters Degree in Forensic Science and work it that realm.

Have you done your homework? I guess Stop and Frisk wasn't such a great idea after all because they put an end to it.

Poverty stricken areas everywhere are the targets of crime. This will never stop because people don't care and nothing is being done about it.

If a young black male gets killed here in the city of Buffalo they talk about it on the news for a couple of days. If a affluent person in the suburbs gets killed they talk about it for weeks. Even the media is biased.

I will say that here in Buffalo people who live in these areas are getting fed up of what is happening in their neighborhoods and taking action. One good thing that is happening is that there are block clubs being formed. It is hard when you own a home and feel that you are trapped in that home for fear of being mugged or even worse killed on your own street.

Same here in the Capitol District.

Same here in the Capitol District.

And here in Jax.

People are still up in arms over 2 white women being murdered within a few days of each other last year. 4 minutes on the story about the murders, and how nothing is being done. 3 minute news story on the kid who flipped his ATV and is recuperating. A woman was involved in a hit and run at a rest stop in St Johns County--3 minutes on that story.

A 6 year old was shot while playing on her front porch at 11pm. It was a 5 second blip on the news this morning. Two women were shot this weekend, in different homes, West/Northwest sides, another 5 second blip. Two people shot in a Westside parking lot, that one got 10 seconds. Man shot on I95, short 10 second blip. This was just the last week in Jax.
