How does vandalism and looting accomplish anything???

My last word on the subject, before I get a little too sarcastic for the rules and regs: if any of you actually thinks that race isn't an issue in American policing, you seriously need to check your privilege.

[I generally hate the phrase, but honestly, it's the most positive reason that anyone could actually believe otherwise.]

What privilege?

ANIMALS?!?!?!!!? Are you serious right now?!?? Idc what the situation is..you should never ever call people..especially if you're referring to a certain group (which I do not know for sure if you are)....ANIMALS!!! People have different ways of reacting to situations and I AM NOT excusing it or saying it's ok...just some people don't know how to express their anger without violence and we should be trying to help those people...not calling them names....

I have to wonder if you are serious? Anytime a group (and I'm talking about these individuals that are rioting/looting) attack innocent people, destroy property, steal, I'll call them exactly what they are and if they or you are offended then so be it. As to helping these people handle their anger, what we should be doing is locking them up away from the rest of us. It's no excuse that they don't know how to control their anger. Either learn to behave or we'll remove you from society.

If they were stealing that certainly changes the situation. The sad thing is that a lot of times people automatically portray the police as the bad guys(seems like they get a lot of the discrimination these days too) and the person who committed a crime like the innocent choir boy who did nothing wrong. Not saying that is how it happened here, but if you were not stealing and then resisting arrest it wouldn't have happened. Again, is it sad and tragic that a child lost his life early....absolutely, but children need to be taught to follow the law and follow directions to prevent these tragedies. Until the families and communities start taking responsibility for the role the person killed/injured played in the incident that will never happen and the cycle will continue. Instead they are outraged their innocent child was hurt all at the fault of someone else. Nobody is taking responsibility for their actions it is just blame, blame, blame. :sad2:

I think the outrage begins with the belief that getting shot is an overreaction to petty theft. If that were the whole story, I'd certainly agree.

It's the alleged assault of the officer that changes things.

What privilege?
It's a concept that's all the rage on many college campuses nowadays. It can be applied to many facets, so if you're a American-born, white, male, heterosexual, temporarily-able bodied, and aged 21-60... then our society practically worships you and heaps upon you all sorts of undeserved/unearned things solely on the basis of such physical attributes. "Check your privilege" is a phrased used to call out someone that is not seen as being sensitive enough to the systemic "unfairness" that others, outside their given privileged status, have to suffer with in life.

I am constantly amazed at the people who buy into this horse hockey.

Yes, you're right, it is a farce. While there is unfairness in society, labeling a whole group of people is bigotry.

Oh, that's what's been getting heaped on me all this time. Funny, I thought it smelled like something else.

Just curious as to what that name may be;)

A milder version would start with an a, but I am a potty mouth so I have to go with the big f. ;)

The looting wasn't contained to the store that was involved in the events leading up to the shooting. It spread to different businesses and many that were not involved were affected. In my opinion, they were opportunists of the worst kind.

Just had the news on & some of the arrested rioters aren't even from Ferguson. One wasn't even from Missouri :lmao: So yeah, opportunists of the worst kind.

And to the outsiders, just to be clear, Ferguson is not what one would call "the hood". If you're picturing Watts from the 60's, that's not Ferguson. The homes there are mostly well kept, there are a number of thriving businesses, and it's generally considered a safe place. It's not a wealthy neighborhood by any stretch, but I'd call it "working class" as opposed to "a slum".

I am not trying to be political in this, but the President has put in his two cents again. Please, Mr President, do you not ever learn?
Let the investigation play out, that is all you need to say. Do not take sides!

Learn what exactly? He doesn't make a statement, he gets bashed....he makes a statement...he gets bashed. what is there to learn? He can't make everyone happy and some will never be happy no matter what he says/does.

He showed compassion for grieving parents. How is that taking sides? He didn't say it was justified or not.

I'm sure he had people pushing for him to make a statement so he did. :confused3

Wait there are hundreds that are murdered in inner cities such as Detroit and Chicago. Young African American people including toddlers are dead because of shootings by inner city gangs.

This kind of violence happens every day. Where is the outrage? Heck where is Al Sharpton? Enough said.

You do know Al Sharpton speaks out on black on black crime daily right? There is plenty of outrage, you just aren't looking for it so you don't see it.

In what decade, actually in what lifetime it sure isnt this one.

Are you suggesting there is no outrage regarding black on black crime? Or that Al Sharpton doesn't speak about it?

What exactly do YOU think he speaks about at community summits he goes to constantly?

Maybe he should get call the media to bring attention to those daily speeches.

They should be listening to this guy instead of Sharpton. As for the President, I don't think he said anything wrong. In previous examples, yes he did. This time he just called for patience and peace which I truly hope they listen to. Well, I don't agree with him siccing Eric Holder on them, but other than that...
