How does one go about finding out....

when they will be filming this years' Christmas Parade?

DD wants to try to be seen on TV! And I figure it will be cheaper than going right at Christmas!LOL

I don't think there is an official announcement ahead of time.

Last year they filmed it on the first Saturday of December. There were signs up at the MK entrance saying that the parade was being filmed that day.

In the morning they filmed individual pieces of the parade (static shots, directed, with many retakes of each). The parade was filmed in its entirety in the afternnon.

Your best chance of getting on TV is being part of the crowd on the filming done in the morning. Those are the ones that will get on TV IMO.

Sorry, I don't know if there is a pattern. Last year was the first time we went in December.

On other threads (last year) regarding the subject, the concensus of opinion is that the parade is filmed sometime in early December.

I think it varies from year to year, for not only the reason stated above, but also because it has to be when the hosts for that year are available.

It was on 12/6/01 (Thursday) and 12/7/02 (Saturday), so no real pattern except the beginning of December. We saw it in 2001 and were at WDW in 2002 but didn't go because we were switching hotels that afternoon. We did go that night and Spectromagic & Fireworks were moved back an hour because the taping went overtime.
