how does fastpass work in disneyland

First time I have been to disneyworld and understand the online fastpass and wristbands what is there to know about disneyland fastpass? Kiosk? wait times to stand in line to get the fast pass? are they paper tickets? what else to know?

Fastpass at DL is a totally different animal from FP+ at WDW. AT DL, you put your park tickets into a machine and get your fastpass time (which, now, is attached to your ticket). You'll get a paper slip that tells you what time your Fastpass is for - it's an hour-long window. You cannot pre-book Fastpasses. The return times get later and later until they finally run out. You may collect another Fastpass either when your return window opens or two hours after you collected the last one, whichever comes first, but you may NOT have two active Fastpasses for the same attraction. There is no pre-booking of Fastpasses at DL. You take the time you get. If the time shown doesn't work for you (e.g. you have a dining reservation then), do not pull the Fastpass.
