Does anyone know how the Resorts (All Star Sports) does authorizations for credit cards during check in? Especially when you use your room key in the parks? We have 3 rooms reserved, us, MIL & SIL...will we have to put there charges on our CC? Can we check in with a CC & just pay cash upon check out.

My concern is we will be in the middle of a move to Germany & i don't want my CC tied up with a huge authorization.

I think they authorize a dollar on your chard when you check in and then once your room charges total $500 they charge your card. I plan to accumulate Disney Dollars and use those to put down torward our room charges at check in.

You have to pay for the room(s) for all days when you check in. You could certainly use a check for this. You could then leave a credit card for the "stuff" you buy with your room key. They charge this when you reach the limit for your resort, which varies. I think it's $500 at value, $1,000 at moderate and $1,500 at deluxe, but I may be wrong. You, of course, are not limited to these amounts -- it just means they will run a charge through when you get to that threshhold.

I think you can leave cash/check on deposit for the room charges or you could go to the desk and settle up ever couple days.

Thanks for the response this certainly helps. The problem I have run into lately is hotels are preauthorizing room charges plus usually 20-30 a day...then when you check out they charge our CC but that authorization still looms for a few days. Well when you stay in hotels for 3 weeks this could become a problem.
