How Does Disney Affect Your Life?

Corpsebride, September will be here so soon. I like taking breaks for a month or so sometimes and the July/August boom is when this happens anyways with the Select APs being blocked until the end of August. That said, I do jones too and I feel your pain 100%!

Disneyland just has positive connotations in my mind and life. It always has and it always will. To me Disneyland is loaded with feelings of extreme patriotism, pride and love of America. I always tell people that Disneyland is Walt's personal love letter to his country... America and if you read his quotes from opening day and just look around you will see that is blatantly obvious. Walt loved his country and that is what I like most about him. That and he was able to share his dreams with us like nobody else ever has.

I can't think of anyone in death who is more alive than Walt Disney, we all feel we know him and what made him tick even though he has been gone for over 40 years... years before I was even a twinkle in ones eye.

Walt Disney is no doubt one of the great Americans of the 20th century and one of America's greatest patriots and perhaps America's greatest proponent and promoter ever.

It is so interesting (and scary:scared1: ) to think of what life would be like had Walt not done what he has done. What would the country be like without the Disney fairytale classics to spur children's imagination? What would the world be like with no "theme"parks for tourism to thrive on? No Disney film studios to produce hit movies? Or Disney channel to provide "clean" television for our kids? Animated movies without the multi-plane camera? No animatronics? ..... I know that eventually this nitch would have been met by someone else but one can argue that the entertainment industry would not be what it is today without Walt. :3dglasses

See you there! Maybe you can sneak out and join me and the girls for a cocktail.

Originally DH was bringing his bicycle to ride Saturday Morning and I was making all sorts of plans. I hate to sound mean but I was looking forward to having Disneyland alone time. :rotfl: But he told me the other day he doesn't want to bring his bike beens it is our second honeymoon so I figure no sneaking out.

We'll have a drink and toast to your second honeymoon then:cheer2:
Alone time at DL sounds great..you should encourage him to bring that bike anyway.

This upcoming trip has been my obsession. Ever since I married DH, we've been planning a Disneyland vacation together. But somehow when we've wanted to go, something always came up. This year (knock on wood) we are more ready to go! I've been scouring the forums (this one and some others), buying guidebooks, hunting for my Disney T-shirts, jewelry, planning, planning & planning (where to eat, what to see, getting good ideas from folks, spare time at work I'll read the forums). My husband is impressed by DISboards & all the info I get. I feel like the ad on TV where the little boy & his sister are talking about: "What do you think it's going to be like?". Let's face it, I'm soooooo excited!!!!:yay: :woohoo:  :cheer2:

yep almost everything I think about has to do with it. its because when work and all the stress full stuff gets me down disneyland is the thing that takes me away. I just think of hanging out wth my family with everyone having fun. I can't wiat to go in october.

-we're wdw lovers but just got back from our 1st dl vacation and it was perfect! took everyone's advice & stayed @ hojo's on the 7th floor w/a disneyview room.
-been to dl and wdw when i was little but my obsession really started when in went in 97. my dh was an addict before me so we decided to go to wdw on our honeymoon. we've been to wdw 13 times since then.
-we're ap holders last year and went on 6 wdw vacations that consisted of 6 night stays each.
-have all the disney wear, hats, jewerly, 3 huge disney christmas trees, we have all of the storybook ornaments and we collect the huge mickey ear ornaments. we've started a collection of mickey ears and i think we have about 10 pair. there's so many more to buy.
-husband's office at work is total disney w/red walls, mickey throw pillows, art, disney figurines everywhere.
-we've started collecting the jim shore disney figures. we bought 3 in dl.
-our van has the disney tags, stickers, antennas, etc.
-oh yeah, i'm everyone's disney travel agent. i've planned i know 5 trips for co-workers. i would be offended if they didn't ask me.
-our kitchen is total disney.
-my dh has a mickey bathroom, i have tink
-we have 3 disney throws in the lvrm.
-our dd's playroom has disney lithographs that are framed and underneath we have the figurines to go with each movie. i believe we have 16 on the wall.
-i have to have at least 2 or 3 disney vacations planned for the year. like other dissers here as soon as i get back from one, i'm working on the next one. our life is so happy and nothing can make us happier than a disney vacation. we've never had a bad one. we've checked into the dvc but we always get better deals cause of the off seasons. january is our favorite!!
**i could go on and on, i just love it! nothing more magical!

My 1st time was with my 27 y.o. son back in '85 (good) '93, '97 & WDW 2000 (bad ex-husband-horrible trips) This time around with DH of 6 years, He & I are kids at heart & love Disney everything. DH is from the Philippines has loved Disney ever since he saw his first Mickey Mouse movie in Manila.

I think the reason we all love Disney so much is the magic that we feel from it. Does anybody understand what I am saying ? Or am I nuts? Or both?

:rotfl:

DS2 is affected in a big way... He has recently gotten into this phase where he will only wear Mickey. Every shirt has to have Mickey on it (luckily I have stocked his closet with plenty:rolleyes1 ). But if I try to take off that shirt for bath time or to change into jammies he throws a fit and cries for Mickey. If I do not put on his Mickey jammies, he will dig in his dresser drawer and find them for me and tell me "Mickey, mama, peeeease? (his version of please :) )It is so sad, (and frustrating at the same time). My DH just laughs and told me that I have created a monster! :rotfl:

Isn't it amazing the things we do in the name of Disney?:rotfl:

:rotfl:
I totally understand! However, I am certainly the wrong one to ask about the nuts part! My entire household is full of nuts! (but we are pretty harmless!)

I wonder if anyone shares another of my Disney compulsions? I buy clothing, shoes, or anything I can think of for our trip all year long. I am a stay at home mom so fashion is not high on my list but when it comes to Disneyland I have to pack just the right clothes! I am so stocked up with things I "might" want to take that there's no way I could fit it all in my suitcase. :sad2:

:rotfl:

Nuts? Perhaps, but in a good way! LOL

I must confess I'm in the Disney Nuts & Poor Clubs. Everything on these 5 pages could apply.:rotfl:

I'm afraid to add up how much of our earnings go to Disney between DVC, trips and sericels. When my DH calls to say he's working OT he says "I'll be late...I'm contributing to your DVC points fund". I can't wait for the GC DVC to go on sale.:cloud9:

Right now, what reallly kills me is the new intro for Disney movies. Right
when the music heightens and you see flag over the castle, I can feel my
knees get weak. Its an amazing feeling. I can feel it right in my heart.
sigh.:goodvibes

It made our family live, breath, and eat Disney.

If you don't like disney, you are disowned :rotfl:

Disney is our entire life !

Ain't that right cousin ?! (above me)

All right, cousins! There's nothing wrong with having support from within the family!

My oldest daughter is also a Disneyland nut. Unfortunately, she doesn't get to go often as they cannot afford it. (unless we foot the bill) Still, at least she can share the excitement with me and understands when I talk about Disneyland.
