How do you wear your hair at the parks?

For year's I spent time trying to fix my hair, even in the colder months in FL. I've learned that when it gets humid, or my hair gets wet from the rides I look like a drowned rat.

Last year I just put my hair in a ponytail each day and my pictures turned out the best they ever have. I actually had ones good enough to display at work that included me. So this year, when we go again in the summer it's nothing but ponytails for me.

The great thing about ponytails is I just wash and go. No fuss, no messing and it's also cooler in the heat.

I have very thick hair that frizzes easily, so my hair never looks beautiful at WDW! My hair isn't curly or straight, it's kind of wavy, but I straighten it everyday. No matter how much antifrizz stuff I put in my hair, it won't last the whole day. Usually I wear my hair down (and my hair is usually about the length you see in my pictures) for the first couple of hours in the morning, but then it starts getting so frizzy and gross that I just put it up in a ponytail for the rest of the day.

Just edited to add, the reason my hair isn't super frizzy in my pictures, is because those were from January! :teeth:

My hair is long, thick, and tends to wave or curl and frizz. I blow it straight with a hairdryer and then leave it down under a baseball cap. But over the course of the day, as it gets hotter, I inevitably end up pulling it back. But I get ponytail headaches, so it never stays up for too long.

Usually goes up in a pony tail at WDW. The only time I wore it down in FL was in December when it wasn't too warm and my hair was just below my chin. My hair is naturally very curly but I always straighten it at home. At WDW, it gets straightened maybe half the time ;)

I too get up and fix hair and face, go to the parks and do the picture thing, and then after about an hour no make-up is left and hair, that is naturally flat, is straight and stringy. the bad thing for me is I have bangs, so what does everyone who has bangs do with their bangs? I usually put hair up in a ponytail after it falls and then if it starts to rain I will put a hat on and not worry about the bangs. I teach pre-K at the church so our year ended last week so I am thinking about letting them grow out and do the side bangs even though my mom always reminds me I need bangs, got to love her! Also how many of you come home and look at the pictures and think OMG I look horrible! :lmao:

I am growing my bangs out too, just fror my WDW trip in Oct. All my pix from last year have my bangs looking wild and crazy. I will also be sporting a pony. Blow it out and keep a pony up for the day. As for make up, I do super waterproof eyes and just sunscreen the rest. If I don't do eyes, they disappear in the pictures.

I don't straiten it because 1) the humdity won't let it stay like that and 2) it's cooler when it's wet.
Then I usually either put it up in a bun or a clip...anything cool!

I always get my hair cut short before trips - typically up to the hairline in the back or a little flippy back there at most.

I will occasionally wear a hair scarf (like a long headband that you tie in the back) to be easy, but short hair is easy as can be and you don't have to worry about it.

I have the bang problem too. I tried to grow them out but I looked very scary! My hair is very fine, so I have to have layers in it in order for it now to be flat as a pancake. I can't get a ponytail to stay up, all of the side pieces fall out as fast as I try to pin them back. So I'm not really sure what I will do, maybe I should just get it cut. :confused3

I have a very short trendy hair cut. At it's longest it's about 1.5 inches off my head. As someone else said, I also have very thin/fine hair. This cut is the best for me. I wear it spikey and to do it I blow dry with my fingers and then add some wax to get it to go in a spikey messed up direction. I also have my bangs very short and off to the side so my forehead is completely exposed. This cut is the best during the summer in the humidity of NJ and also great at Disney. I've had this cut for 3yrs now and don't know if I will ever change it again!

It depends on the time of year we go. In December it is not hot so I wear it down like I do everyday.

In the summer I pull it back in a clip or ponytail.

What I have learned to do is I do not wash my hair in the morning when I shower. I wash and blow dry it at night for dinner. I have also found that my hair will not frizz the next day when I do this, (unless it gets wet on a ride) and it looks much better. Washing my hair at night gets all the Theme Park grime out LOL.

I have shoulder length layered hair and I never ever travel without my industrial strength Blow dryer. The ones in the wall unit at WDW hotels just don't cut it....they actually make your hair frizzy because they are not hot/strong enough.

I am currently trying to grow my hair out for my wedding!! It's making me CRAZY!!! I have a haircut scheduled for the day after the wedding, which is the day before we start the Disney portion of our honeymoon!!!

that being said, I am ponytail girl...cheerleading habit!! :rotfl:

I have naturally curly, near-shoulder length hair. Last year I had a friend braid the top (corn-row style) so that it looked like I was wearing a headband. It was GREAT! I didn't have to "do it" at all. Just wash and go! I got lots of compliments and questions about where I had it done. I'm trying to figure out how to do it again when I go in September. We don't leave until the afternoon of Labor Day and salons will be closed that day. Hopefully, I can find a salon that can do it on that Sunday afternoon.

I'm letting my grow, so usually I will either pull it back into a pony tail or clip it at the top to keep it out of my face.

Yes Yes! We must be hair twins seperated at birth! besides the bang problem I mentioned earlier I too have very fine hair that I have to layer to have in volume. At one point last year I went and bought those Mickey clips and had my hair in a ponytail and all those clips all around my head. Teenage DD and her friends couldn't believe they were walking beside me but hey I was cool. One time DD a few years ago took me hair and put it into two hight ponytails and then twisted them and pinned. She said 'there you just look like you are wearing a mickey hat'. :rotfl2:

I naturally have STRAIGHT hair, so every morning I put rollers in. As the day goes on, depending on the weather, it'll fall. So, the hair will either go up in a clip or if I have a baseball hat & I'm at a place where it's appropriate to wear, I put the hat on. I love baseball hats! ;)

You might try this (top of head, not bottom of chin). It keeps you cool yet requires more sunscreen. Cuts washing your hair in the shower to mere seconds. And for some reason intimidates rude people. They don't know I can't hurt a fly, all they see is the bald head and beard. (Though I wouldn't recommend the beard to you - unless the circus is in your future). I'm telling you though, this is the way to go!

carone0318, your haircut sounds so cool !!! Do you have a pic to post?

I, too, have very fine, thin hair and I am trying to find a (very) short haircut with that no-fuss characteristic!

I double french braid it. That way my ponytail doesn't get smooshed when I put my head back, and it stays out of my face. It's the best solution for me!

I looked at pics from last trip when I wore my hair down alot at night and all I can say is it must of been very humid. Normally my hair doesn't swell up like that :lmao: I guess all moms like to tell you about yourself  I put makeup on most days but it usually melts off after and hour. This year we are going in September again. Bad hair and melted make up! Next trip will be December before Christmas.
