How do you wear your hair at the parks?

carone0318, your haircut sounds so cool !!! Do you have a pic to post?

I, too, have very fine, thin hair and I am trying to find a (very) short haircut with that no-fuss characteristic!

I'll see what I can do. I do have pictures, but I am not sure how to post one. Let me read the directions and try, it might not be until tomorrow.

I have long curly frizzy hair. So in July, when I'm going, the humidity is not going to be kind to me. I will have to slick it back with some gel and put it in either a pony or bun. Maybe even alternate. I'm so crazy! lol :rotfl2:

During the summer I usually wear my hair up. Whether it be a ponytail, pig tails, or some sort of messy bun or whatever thing. Otherwise my hair gets all frizzy and nasty.

i have naturally curly hair which i straighten EVERYDAY!!! but, while i am in WDW, i do let it go curly (with products in it) and wear it in a pony tail. If i even attempted to straighten it, it would be one frizzy afro in no time  :)

While I love the humid weather, my hair does not! My hair is long & frizzes to oblivion, so it's usually a baseball hat & ponytail for me. If I'm going to the water parks, I typically put it in braids so it doesn't go totally out of control.

I tried to straighten my hair with a flat-iron the first time I went to Florida. HA! That lasted about 20 minutes, then it was back to "Hurricane Zorba"! :scared1:

I thinbk it's so great that we have 47 posts about our hair!! This is a serious issue. I also find it interesting that the current "in" hair is straight, but most of us responding have curly  including myself. Why is that?

I've found the most effective hair-care method ever: last year at this time I shaved it all off.

I'm now 100% bald. I haven't had a bad hair day since. :thumbsup2

Yes, I couldn't believe how many replies were on my thread when I got home a little bit ago!! Shows what's important around here!!!

I'm still :rotfl2: on some of the hair descriptions after being in the Florida sun/heat/humidity all day at the parks!! You guys are hilarius!! :sunny:

i have shortish hair so nothing changes :cool1: except sometimes i just blow it dry and don't flat iron it

umm i look nothing like disneydadfanatic though, it's not that short :teeth:

My hair is straight, and hangs to about my shoulder blades right now (I grow it for locks of love, so it varies from chin length to the middle of my back).

If I'm wearing a baseball hat, I either do a single pony tail, or braid that pony tail and pull it through the hat.

If I'm wearing my "boonie hat" (it's a floppy hat like hikers wear), I'll usually do two separate pig tails. I used to do a french braid, but it lays on my neck and makes me too hot.

For my upcoming Ft. Wilderness trip, I've decided to go with my standard camping hairstyle and do bunches of bahama braids. This ends up being the coolest for me, and I just wash my hair while it's braided. That keeps it wet for most of the day, cooling me off even more. It takes some time (about 2 hours), but it's well worth it!

Is there anywhere at WDW to get your hair braided like in the Bahamas???
I always wash my hair throw it up in a clip and goodbye!!

i tried maintaining a straight hair style while on vacation last September, but that darn humidity and my hair had quite a fight... so wavy we went. If I do wear a baseball hat, I have to make sure it is on a day that we aren't going to MGM. Last time I went to ride Rock n Roller Coaster, they wouldn't let me ride with my hat on, so they wouldn't start until I took off my hat!!! Everyone had to wait for me! Well, now I know! There's my tip for everyone else :sunny:

You might try this (top of head, not bottom of chin). It keeps you cool yet requires more sunscreen. Cuts washing your hair in the shower to mere seconds. And for some reason intimidates rude people. They don't know I can't hurt a fly, all they see is the bald head and beard. (Though I wouldn't recommend the beard to you - unless the circus is in your future). I'm telling you though, this is the way to go!

You are funny :lmao: :rotfl2: My DH is bald and he just can't understand how there is so much effort put in to my hair when for him he just gets the shaving cream and razor and off he goes with it ;)

Belle,

Here it is, it doesn't really do my hair justice, but it will give you an idea what it looks like:

I usually just toss on a baseball cap; I have one of Scar and the hyenas that I bought on my first disney trip 10 years ago and I wear that every vacation. The CM's go nuts asking where I got it, none of them remember it being available at the parks!

I've got slightly more than shounder length hair, and I think this year I'm going to reincarnate my old collage hairstyle . . . shave off everything from the ears down. Keeps the back of the neck cool, especially when up in a ponytail, and looks completely normal when your hair is down. plus it looks completely normal when it's growing back in because its all hidden. :)

For me last year, it depended on if we are doing a brekafast in which I am worried about getting my picture taken as to if I fix my hair or not. I can tell you now that this year (actually in 17 more days:banana: ) I think I will be doing mostly pony tails and ball caps. We do have dinner plans a few nights that I may fix up myself a little for, but it will be HOT, always a chance of rain, I am going to be riding rides and running with my kids, not to mention swimming and whatever else pops up. It never fails...I end up in a pony tail by the end of the day anyway.

I go high maintence for low tech. After living with the humidity of Washington, DC then Southern Florida, I find the best trick is to comb through a deep conditioner, but not rinse it out. After hair dries, I simply scrunch in some anti-frizz gel then pull the with with a banana clip off the face. The waves keep in, the frizz is avoided, and the hair is potentially soft. No point in trying to attempt to get it straight. :cool1:

My hair is pretty much the same when Im in the parks or at home. I have a chin length bob that is angled ( its shorter at the back and longer in the front) . I just make sure that I get it cut right before I go so that it isnt too much to do to get it styled. I have really thick hair that is pin straight so it gets lots of texture. The only thing I may do a bit diffrent is that if its really hot my bangs clump together which I hate, so I might put some pomade in them and push them to the side. If my hair is just limp because of the humididty, its a baseball hat for me. :)

I wear my hair natural and if it gets too hot I use a clip to put it up. I have shoulder length curly hair that thrives in the high humidity.
