How Do You Think We Stay So Happy?*Final Thoughts & Farewells* 10/7 p100

I'm really lovin' your trip report! Looks like you girls had a wonderful time! Thanks so much for taking the time to come back and share! Looking forward to more!

:welcome: disneybound! Thanks for joining us. I am glad you are enjoying are TR. There will be a lot more sharing going on, so stay tuned.

So I think we left off with our delicious lunch at The Plaza. So yummy. Just good, basic, comfort food. And some very yummy thick cut steak fries! :thumbsup2 It's a small space and tables are close together but as far as MK dining goes, I think this is the winner!! Will be interesting to see what Beast's tavern is like.

I remarked at the time that the only thing that would make my burger and fries better would be a nice cold beer. And thus began a discussion and soapbox I would jump on for the rest of the trip: for all the amazing changes they are making in the MK, why can't I get a drink?? It doesn't have to be as "in your face" as the booze in World Showcase but just some options. Why not??

Later, as I was pontificating on the lack of alcohol in the MK, Mary Ellen had the best idea: shooters for parents on your way in and out of Fantasyland! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Talk about a money maker!! :rotfl:

So after a lovely lunch, I was heading back to the pool by way of Epcot. I'm going to share my pictures for you fellow Disney junkies but I have to admit the quality falls very short of those of the professional photogs on the trip. :sad2:

Over to EPCOT we go

I thought the strawberry scent around Lotso was very cool! Manufactured but cool!

I took lots of pics with the idea that I'd try to recreate the gardens at home this summer...

In my infinite wisdom, I thought to myself that it wasn't that hot and that I'd take the "long way" around World Showcase to exit out the International Gateway.

WRONG! It WAS that hot and I realized that too late around Italy or so. But nevertheless it was a nice afternoon

If I could have picked, I'm not sure I would have picked year of the rat but that is what I'm stuck with. And the description is pretty accurate!

That was all the photos I took for the afternoon. I headed back to the Beach Club and came upon Tracy and Mary Ellen with her medicinal cocktail sitting in the shade. The other ladies made their way to join us shortly and we had a lovely afternoon chatting before we had to clean ourselves up for dinner at BlueZoo! :)

I think it's odd that they are building a Tavern in MK that doesn't serve beer - just doesn't sound right.........

Your pictures are lovely too Christine! :thumbsup2 I think you are the first person I've heard mention that they had a strawberry scent around Lotso, if I read it before it didn't register - how fun!

I too am the year of the Rat, why I couldn't have had say maybe the horse. No I got the rat!:headache:

We never eat dinner in the MK because of the no booze thing. My DH likes to have a beer with his meal. It's so silly not to allow alcohol when it's in all of the other parks.

From a rooster to a rat, Christine, your flower pictures were lovely! And you're right, if MK ever went away from the dry-route, I imagine they would be sitting on a goldmine!

Christine - that is too funny....Year of the Rat.:rotfl: You elicited major chuckles outta me with that one.

Opportunistic??!!! What the heck does that mean?:rotfl2: Perhaps when it comes to taking trips to Disney?

Now you have me curious...I've got to look my own year up now.;)

C-

Your pictures are wonderful! What are you talking about???? I love them all. They really capture all the highlights and Epcot. I am glad you took so many pictures of China. Seriously, I think I took one. Maybe, two.

I, too, want to look up my year. I have no idea what animal I am associated with.

And your update will now be referenced as, "If they can change all the classic rides, why can't I get a GD drink?"

I've got to get the links to the updates posted. I am starting to get behind.

:rotfl:

OMG - you are killing me!!!:rotfl2:

That's actually C's line. She thought of it that afternoon at the pool. We had actually considered it for a TR title, but eliminated it. So now it will become her update title. :thumbsup2

Too funny! Your TR should have a subtitle as far as I am concerned.;)

Cynthia, I kind of like that you got on no rides and took all those pictures -- you got some really good ones and a few spots I'm not sure I've seen before. Mark and I've not been on the Liberty Belle in ages either; like you, it's always closed when we are there. Hopefully, we get on it this year.

I'm glad I went on it too, it was just fun to step back and soak it all in

And honestly, I think the E's would have gotten bored so best it was open when it was just me on it!

Wow, amazing MK pictures in the 2 Belles update! I still have not gone on the Liberty Belle, but I really should, it looks like a fun way to see everything in Fronteirland! That line for HM looked insane!

BCV looks pretty! I like the regular BC rooms better, but I'd still like to stay in a villa sometime!

That HM line was awful, sadly though it did mean I never made it on HM this trip. I loved the views from the Liberty Belle, a great way to soak it all in.

Much as I might like the decor of the BC rooms a little better, I like the vibe of the villas better. I was worried after the YC, which I loved, that I'd have a hard time at the BC as there are SO many little kids. Not that I don't love kids, I do. But with mine being 10 and up now, I loved the quieter more adult pace of the YC and is suited us. The Beach Club to me can seem a bit chaotic at times, especially in the lobby with so many wee ones. However, the villas were an oasis. I absolutely loved it! And that pull out is amazingly comfy.

Loving your updates girls!
Every time I leave WDW I feel like I didn't have time to walk around slowly and absorb all the little details that makes it so WONDERFUL. Mary Ellen and Cynthia, I'll bet it was so enjoyable to get to move slowly by yourselves and take it all in:lovestruc "I have a dream"....:rotfl2: We're always so busy seeing how much we can get done. :drive:

Loove the compromise on the pool pics. I can just hear that conversation now:rotfl::rotfl:

It really was wonderful. We too have slowed down a little but being west coasters don't make it out as much as the rest of the girls so still have a little commando in us. It was nice to just walk and let it take me wherever.

Haha...my senior year of high school, my older sister moved back in, so I had to share with her again. It was only supposed to be temporary, but she lived there for that entire year and my first semester at school. Now that room is my Mom's library!

I figure it's Taylor's turn to share if he comes back after school starts, the middle two have been doing it for 7 years! I shared until middle school but then not again until college. We had sleeping porches, that took some getting used to at first!

Well, he certainly IS easy on the eyes. Sort of like the waiters in Italy! (Via Napoli) ;)

Oh those waiters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!!!!! Ah - yes - my therapy was working quite well. It's really the first time I used alcohol to start feeling better. But something told me it might do the trick!

You needed to relax more than pain relieve so it makes sense that it worked.

I really hope I can get a room at the BW or BC for F&W 2012, because I WILL be going then! It will take major disability, disaster, or death to keep me away in 2012. So as soon as you all get home for 2011 I want to start planning 2012!!!!!!

I can't remember if I had any wine or not, but I do remember being impressed by Tracy's wide assortment of disney glasses in her owner's locker. :thumbsup2

I vote for BW. Hee hee.

I remarked at the time that the only thing that would make my burger and fries better would be a nice cold beer. Your pictures are great!!! A beer would have been perfect with lunch and I kow we all agreed we'd sign your petition. How Gaston can have a tavern without beer is beyond me. It will be interesting. This is why we never eat dinner in the MK. It's vacation and I want an adult beverage with my meal! Heck they could make it beer and wine only, no hard stuff but c'mon, it's kind of silly if you ask me. I'd love to know the reasoning behind it.

Too funny! Your TR should have a subtitle as far as I am concerned.;)

Trish you have no idea. It was a trip of one liners and potential TR titles. LOTS of laughs. I think many of them will come out over the report, Christine did a good job of trying to keep track of them as they came up.

Catching up on the updates. Lol at the presentation given by the head of residence at the Uni, Mary Ellen! Sounds hilarious! :rotfl:

Wow dorm rooms have all that in them!! I sure need to enroll on a course again!

Great WS pics - I will have to check out the phone booth in Canada as well. Lol at freezing when someone answered the phone in England!

BCVs look so good.

Shooters in and out of Fantasyland....Mary Ellen is a genius:worship::worship:

Great pics btw!

I don't know why Disney doesn't offer me a job right now! :rotfl:

I think it's odd that they are building a Tavern in MK that doesn't serve beer - just doesn't sound right.........

No. It sure doesn't. There is something fundamentally wrong about that.

Your pictures are lovely too Christine! :thumbsup2 I think you are the first person I've heard mention that they had a strawberry scent around Lotso, if I read it before it didn't register - how fun!

I didn't notice his scent, but then again I don't have the greatest sense of smell. That does have its advantages, since I work in healthcare! :rolleyes1

I too am the year of the Rat, why I couldn't have had say maybe the horse. No I got the rat!:headache:

I am more curious than ever to find out why mine is.

We never eat dinner in the MK because of the no booze thing. My DH likes to have a beer with his meal. It's so silly not to allow alcohol when it's in all of the other parks.

I get it, but then again I don't. It would be nice to be able to get a drink with dinner because there's certainly no BYOB. Maybe that's why none of the table service restaurants are all that great in the MK. Then you don't feel like you're really missing something.

From a rooster to a rat, Christine, your flower pictures were lovely! And you're right, if MK ever went away from the dry-route, I imagine they would be sitting on a goldmine!

Maybe it has to do with the fact that they keep the park open so late at night. I don't know, but I don't think its ever going to happen.

Christine - that is too funny....Year of the Rat.:rotfl: You elicited major chuckles outta me with that one.

Wouldn't be my first pick - that's for sure!

Opportunistic??!!! What the heck does that mean?:rotfl2: Perhaps when it comes to taking trips to Disney?
:rotfl2: Now that translation I can understand! :rotfl2:

Now you have me curious...I've got to look my own year up now.;)

Me too!

Too funny! Your TR should have a subtitle as far as I am concerned.;)

Adding it soon, but C has to add it to her update.

wonderful updates!

I took a picture of every single horoscope sign/animal in China! I couldn't resist! My TR updates from Epcot are going to be just a zillion pictures!

Gaston's tavern with no beer???

I definitely agree that MK should sell some sort of adult beverage. I know that Walt didn't want it that way, but I don't think it would take away from the atmosphere and family friendliness. And all of the other parks serve alcohol. Also, now won't there be three taverns in MK, all of which are dry? :confused3

That presentation was hysterical! His background is in psychology and he obviously knows human nature pretty well.

And the dorm rooms were pretty cool. The interesting thing was that the room configurations were all slightly different. Not just the furniture, but the layout of the room.

Great WS pics - I will have to check out the phone booth in Canada as well. Lol at freezing when someone answered the phone in England!

BCVs look so good.

I totally froze - what a loser. But I will redeem myself in December. I will be totally ready for those phone booths!

Nothing wrong with that. My updates are always mostly pictures.

Gaston's tavern with no beer???

There is something so fundamentaly wrong with that. Errr!

A dry tavern is a misnomer. It makes no sense. There is part of me that agrees with preserving Walt's vision, but there's another part of me that says there had to be a loophole in the logic.
