Behind a paywall so can't read the article.
I don't think a hotel would have made anything differently. I don't know the full story either having limited information but if someone is upset at the idea of being around someone with an illness or disability it's a frame of mind they are under such that any encounter they have with someone would bring that to light. What if an assessable room was all that was available to the guests if they were at a hotel, you'd think their claim would be the same, the whole "disability aid" thing although I must say I'm confused at the “they do not press anything disability-related” comment they supposedly said to the host.I am not clicking on the link but I did read about this. Since I don't know all the details I am not going to immediately jump on the guests. So far, it does sound like they are being unreasonable and should have stayed in a hotel. We'll see if more information is revealed.
Seems the news thinks so too since none of the links work any more, including the Yahoo link and the video that now is marked private.I think the lawsuit is ridiculous.
Many people are good but many people are often completely awful and may people think people who don't slide into their version of ideal are icky & at fault.
I would also love to know the name of the guests
If the links are dead here is a copy paste from NewsNCR - I deleted the businesses name and put in (--- - & -) because we can connect the dots & I assume their name is why things were deleted

I've read this like 3 times and I still don't know what the story is. This has to be one of the worst written articles I've ever read.

Really? I figure it's just verbatim and just skipped using the commonly used "sic" to identify it as such. My paraphrase is:
Person with Huntington's rented a portion of her place to a couple who are the renters through an intermediary business that matches.
The couple who rented recognized this was a disabled person's home due to the placement of the doorbell (presumably wheelchair height).
The couple immediately complained that the fact a disabled person was also in the space was not disclosed citing that everything in the home was a handicapped specialized disability aid (wonder how offended they are in public restrooms?)
The business told the handicapped person to vacate her home because the renters were 'triggered' by her disability instead of helping the renters find an alternative place to stay.
The lawsuit seems to be over the fact that disabled person renting didn't disclose the nature of her disabled state to the renters ahead of time so they could deselect based on her intolerable existence & also because the business in between isn't pressuring property owners hard enough to disclose disabilities so that unsuspecting renters aren't forced to endure the presence of disabled people. You know, like they should come with warning labels.
This story has me mostly wondering how disabled people are treated when traveling in other parts of the world, as in, what is this story really saying about how businesses treat disability?
Not always. I’ve done AirBnb a couple of times (for extend month or longer stays - twice when I moved to a new country and wanted to be able to take some time to find somewhere to rent longer term) and always had the entire apartment I was renting (both in the US and in Europe).Have never used AirB&B, but as I understand how that works, someone is renting out a portion of their home while still living there.
