How do you spread the pixie dust?

I don't know how "magical" it is, but you know how sometimes you see ride photos where people are doing pretty funny stuff?

I do that. My crowning achievement "series" has been on Tower of Terror. I rode it maybe 5 or 6 times with a friend in quick succession. We pulled off: Patty Cake, the ride "selfie", the park map, bored teenagers texting on their phones, and sleeping.

Every group was full of laughter when they saw the ride photo from their car. I had one of the cast members working the photo line tell us that we made her day with our photos.

I've done similar photos on EE, Splash, Buzz, and one memorable trip on Space Mountain where my mom, my friend, and I were the "hear no-, speak no-, see no-" evil monkeys.

I like making people laugh so I do what I can. And that's look incredibly silly on something that everybody else is going to see.

These are all such wonderful ideas. We've tried to share the pixie dust over the years with other guests and especially with cm's.

One year we were at Disney on Easter Sunday and we had made up a bunch of Easter eggs filled with pre-wrapped candy (no chocolate - too hot). We handed them out to cm's working on Easter. Most accepted and were thrilled! A few declined saying it was against the rules.

I've also made up notes for mousekeeping with money or candy.

I also make note of a cm's name if they do something special and then find a manager and tell them about the cm's outstanding service.

This year we'll be at Disney over Christmas and we plan to make little Christmas bags full of candy and give them out as we drive down to Disney (toll booth workers) and to our meal servers, mousekeepers, etc.

We've also had leftover bottled water that we've given to other guests if we're checking out and cannot use it.

And last but not least, on our last trip, we started volunteering at Give Kids the World. BEST TIME EVER! We are now scheduled to volunteer there again on Christmas Eve night and one other day during our Christmas trip.

I bought a bunch of mickey stickers and a bag of a dozen princess wands from the local party store and carried them along with me in my bag.

At one point at HS during the special effects show, the two little girls next to me were starting to cower and cry because of the loud explosions. I turned to the mom and asked her if she thought her princesses would like some wands. The girls immediately brightened up and started playing with the wands and completely ignored the rest of the loud booming. The mom joked that she was going to put me on her Christmas card list.

I also found asking parents if they thought their kids would want to decorate their magic bands with stickers while waiting in line for the bus worked to give the kids something to do in line besides climb all over the railings of the queues.

I also tweeted the name and location of a particularly helpful CM every day to the @waltdisneyworld account.

This past August we decided to get food at SAB while lounging at the pool and were on the DP. None of us wanted the dessert (ice cream bars) but weren't going to let it go to waste so I approached two moms who were at the pool, explained that we had ice cream bars coming to us that we didn't want and asked if they'd like to take it for their children...they were thrilled! This past October while DH & I were on a solo trip, we had a small cooler filled with both alcoholic and non-alcholic drinks that we didn't want to go to waste so on our last day, we looked around the pool for some adults who we thought might be happy to take the cooler over. We found two lovely families who were visiting from the UK and were more thanTHRILLED to take the cooler filled with beverages :goodvibes

This summer we bought a Cinderella slipper bank, and every time we have spare change we put it in there. We are planning to use that money to buy balloons and give them to someone that our kids choose at the parks this Christmas. So far we are up to about 25 dollars- hopefully that will get a couple! :goodvibes

When we are at Disney World, I usually get pins from the internet to trade and most of time I may give 1-2 pins out to people for free, especially when I see a kid upset because they might have fallen and scrapped a knee, or if they are curious about pin trading and don't have a pin to trade I will give them a pin. One year I saw a guys vest decked out in Donald Duck pin and he saw a donald pin i had that he didn't have and I just gave it to him, because I wanted to give "Magic" to people.

We also have given away many fast passes to people. Last year we gave an English couple from England our Toy Story Mania Passes since we had dinner reservations in another park during the time. :)

Every year at Halloween i go to Wendy's and get though Coupon booklets, and when I go to Wendys I will give them to kids to get a frosty. :)

My First trip I bought 10 balloons and just gave them to kids! LOVE doing that! Even just 1

It's funny you should mention that. We were waiting for an afternoon parade, and I wondered how much it wold cost to do that. I asked the girl passing by how much they were. Ok, too expensive this trip. A few minutes later she gave one to DD. DD enjoyed it, and a few hours later passed it on to another little girl, who was extatic with her new balloon.

We usually pack an entire box of Capri suns every day for the parks. At the night parade at MK, illuminations at EPCOT, and Fantasmic at HS, we always have some left over from the day and give them to kids sitting around us.

Haha in 2012 we (an English couple from England) had fast passes to Toy story mania given to us and we were thrilled! Wouldn't it be funny if it was you who gave them to us?? :D

Please don't have a strange child a toy. What a way to confuse the child about safety and not being too friendly with people they don't know.
I've seen you comment not to Pixie Dust on other threads as well. If Pixie Dusting is done correctly, at the right time and with the parents permission it is actually teaching the child that there are still kind people out there. You can take stranger danger so far that you instill improper fear and anti social behavior inadvertently in your child. Kids need to know that while there are some people and situations that are inappropriate, that some people are genuinely kind and want to make the world a better place. Teaching your kids to indiscriminately fear all strangers as though everyone is out to get them is just as bad as teaching them to naively accept all people at face value. Pixie Dusting with parent permission is a perfect opportunity to teach them that there is a balance to everything in life. ;)

Not really "magic" but I carry around individually packaged wet wipes, and I'll offer them to parents with a child who has dripped ice cream or some other food all over their hands and face.
Haha! Love it! I would definitely look at a wet wipe as magical when my daughter is eating ice cream!

I bring extra "trader" pins and (after clearing it with their parent/guardian) I offer to start kids off with their choice of one or two pins.

I'm not sure who enjoys these exchanges more: me or the kids!

:goodvibes

After reading about giving "thank you" cards to CMs, I ordered some to pass out on our next trip(s):

On the front I replaced the "stock photos" with some from our previous trips, and on the back,
I included our names as well as DIS screen name:

I got a great deal at Vistaprint.com!

Exactly! Very well said. :thumbsup2

When I see a group trying to take a picture I will often stop and take a group picture so everyone can be in it.
