How do you spread the pixie dust?

Okay, first of all, it's not like you go up to a random kid and give it to them. You talk to the parents first. Second of all, are you aware that the 'stranger danger' campaign was one of the worst things that could happen to child safety? Yes, even the agency that comes out with faces on milk cartons says so. Here's a good link, said better than I can:

Everyone needs to use a little common sense. Is any child going to be unattended in a place like disney? Highly unlikely. You start a general conversation. Most of the time we hand out presents, it was on the bus, with the kids seated on their parents lap. Don't be a buzzkill. Just use common sense.

As a parent, I would be THRILLED if someone gave DS some special treat. You can usually tell what parents would be open to it or what parents would be freaked out by the kindness of a stranger. I am bringing along extra glow sticks, etc for DS to hand out to other kids.

One vacation, the resort we stayed at gave DD a balloon animal every morning as we left for a park. DD passed it on to someone else, usually a small child, but one morning her choice was an older lady sitting alone on a bench. The woman looked tired and sad or defeated. I'll never forget the look on her face as DD hands her this balloon creation.

This is so precious

Please don't have a strange child a toy. What a way to confuse the child about safety and not being too friendly with people they don't know.

Boo Hiss and Good day to you!

What I want to type would get me kicked off the disboard.;)

Not really "magic" but I carry around individually packaged wet wipes, and I'll offer them to parents with a child who has dripped ice cream or some other food all over their hands and face.

It may not be magic to you, but to the family it just may mean the world.

For example, last year I flew with my then 2 year old from Pittsburgh to Ft. Myers. She ended up with a stomach bug the day we were flying home. She puked 2 times in the rental car to the airport and once on the plane, mid-flight. The flight crew was rather useless (that's another story) but a lady behind me handed me a few wipes. She didn't know what happened but saw me frantically cleaning up and trying to comfort my little girl. I was so tired and emotionally drained that I instantly broke down crying, it meant so much.

when at disney during f&w, i was leaving early the next morning and had a little money left on my f&w ticket. i stopped at the french kiosk to get one more treat and when leaving saw a lady who was just looking and asked what that was all about. she had no idea what to do. i gave her my f&w ticket with the left over money on it and told her to use it to buy the food. she did not understand but i led her into the line and she was so pleased that someone actually gave her a treat.pixiedust:

i was also in a signature restaurant one evening and a young couple came in and sat at the table next to me. they looked at the menu and whispering decided that they did not have enough money to eat there. i told the waitress to put their meal on my dxddp as i was leaving disney and would not be able to use it. i told the waitress not to tell them who paid. i could overhear them talking and found out they were on their honeymoon and were so pleased that they were given a wedding gift without knowing who it was from.pixiedust:

I am going to bring extra glow sticks too! I may bring some stickers as well. Any RAOK or in Disney "pixie dust" is so appreciated. Such simple things can change a child's whole attitude, or make their day! My daughter was handed a happy meal toy at McDonald's on a day when we were just sharing nuggets. The look on her face was absolutely priceless. A couple of different times I have been RAOK'ed at grocery stores with gift cards. The feeling you get when a complete stranger hands something to you is indescribable.

We've also given FastPasses to families as we are leaving a park. We try to pick family friendly rides with long wait times. It's such a great feeling!

I love these! We always take extra glow sticks for the nighttime parades and stickers for waiting in line. We always make lots of friends.

This trip I'm also taking one item that the girls (6 & 9) can give away each day. They are small stuffed animals and figurines. They can give it to whoever they want, but they must give it away before the end of the day. They are really excited about this and I'm anxious to see how it works. I want them to enjoy spreading the joy and thinking of others and not concentrate on what's in it for them. We'll see if it works!

its stuff like this that makes me love Disney so much. People wanting to share some magic.

We have given kids pins to trade if they only have one or two on their lanyards, also some little kids will stare at the pins and I will let them pick one and keep. Makes them very happy. Additionally, we try to spread some pixie dust to the cast members by giving them cast member appreciation cards. I get them off of mousesavers.com, put our names and the year and then laminate them. The look on the CM's faces is priceless. They spread so much pixie dust they deserve some as well.

Last trip my DD & DH got very sick the last day and when we flew home the flight crew was amazing, so I gave them a card too, they loved it!!!

3. DD wanted a big princess balloon and it perfect for spotting our stroller, but we explained from the beginning that we were not able to bring back home since we flew to Disney. She picked out a princess on our last park day to give the balloon to, and the little girl was not a English speaker was so happy that she gave dd a big hug

I would love to do this! My DD is only two and I don't think she'd understand at all why we were giving her balloon away! But I'll be saving this nugget for our last trip for sure!

Wow! This is an excellent idea! I'd love to hear if it works well or not!

That's awesome! I just might do that :)

I like giving away my pins if say I get into a conversation with a child. I just don't go up to people and give pins away. I once got into a conversation with the sweetest little girl on the bus. She asked me about my pins and I told her about them. She said she had a lanyard but no pins yet. Well something HAD to be done about that!!

I let her pick one of my pins and she was so thrilled. As we got off the bus her family was in front of me and she turned to me and proudly showed me her lanyard with her pin on it and game me the sweetest smile and wave. I'll never forget it.

I've also given backs of the pins away to kids who have lost there's. And I have had a girl so desperate for a pin I had I let her trade me.

I love the pin trading. The power of little pins. :)

My youngest of 6 is 16, but I remember the power of a bandaid ! I always carry Mickey Mouse ones into the parks, and have stopped more than one little one's crying with a Mickey on their boo-boo !:tink:
