How do you spend your last Disney day?

With the flight not leaving until seven, I'd definitely make it a park day. I'm not a big fan of touring on Day one but I think on the final day, if you have an evening flight, its great! A water park is a good idea, but we usually just leave it up in the air and pick the park that day- either one we didn't see enough of, or just return to a favorite. I don't know, spending your last few hours in a park just feels right. Just leave plenty of time to get back for your airport ride.

If flight is late enough, we do a mini marathon racing to all the parks to catch two or three favorites at each. We definately have to do MK! It's a lot of fun and we don't have time to be sad about leaving...at least until we're on the plane!

I love this thread!! I have a 5:15 flight out and have been wondering how to spend our last day!! I'm thinking a character breakfast would be great and maybe a monorail ride since we'll be staying at the Poly and maybe even try to squeeze in some time at DTD. I have to agree with the posters who do not do a park on check out day, it would be way too sad!!

Gosh.. the last day can be sad! almost tragic.

I usually have a flight home around 1pm so we have to leave for the airport at 11:00am.

We try to have a nice breakfast and swim at the resort - we say goodbye to the parks the night before and sort of consider that our last day.

On a side note... I love Orlando airport, it is so civilized and user friendly with lots of windows, trees, seating, food and shopping - it's not too bad a place to stay for a couple of hours waiting for your flight.

>>^..^<<

We currently have a 1:05 departure from Orlando. I'm calling the travel agent to see if I can make that a much later departure. I want to spend that last Friday shopping and touring now that I've read all these other posts.

Besides cry? We go and ride our favorites one more time. Usually MK, maybe MGM. Driving is so much nicer than flying if you tend to suffer post-Disney depression. The whole rushing to the airport, turning in the rental car, etc. is just too much for me after a wonderful WDW vacation. And worst of all? You get HOME so much quicker. No time to heal. ;)

We usually head for downtown Disney for last minute shopping. (wouldn't want to take any money home).
But this year we will be a yacht club so we will spend it at Epcot (Flower and Garden Show).

Smile and enjoy.

When we've had a late flight, it's automatic... MK!
We do some favorites, then we head out. It just feels right that our last memories of the vacation are there!

Dealing with the airport and all the hassle (turning in the rental, standing in line, etc.) is just too sad (although the Orlando airport IS very nice), so I tend to squeeze in all the WDW that I can.

MGM is always our first and last park and ToT is our first and last ride of every trip. That's what we did on our first trip and our son absolutely insists that we hold to that tradition.

My last day is usually spent tearing up at all of the things I'm going to miss until my next trip.

...instead of making Disney the end of the trip, to extend our vacation to hit some "other" parks in Orlando.

This way, our check out day becomes our last day to go to Disney parks...but nothing is stopping me from going to DTD!!!talk about trying to eek out that magic to the very end...LOL

(Oh, and I hear you about the tears in the eyes..I get them too, and even worse......ever seen a grown MAN cry??...LOL)

It depends on whether we are flying or driving. If driving, we have breakfast, and then go to DTD for a last minute trip to the shops and hit the road about 11 am.

If we are flying, our flight usually doesn't leave until 8:30 pm, so we don't have to be at the airport until 6:30... in that case, we check out then hit a park for awhile. Then we go to lunch at DTD and shop a bit before heading to the airport.

Now that we are moving within 30 minutes of the park, all of that will change!:)

I generally take a 10 pm flight, so I get a completely full last day in the park. The plan varies depending on the park hours and what I haven't gotten to, but I always have to go to at least Epcot and MK. I always get a dole whip and a trip on Splash Mountain at the very least. And at MK, as I'm leaving, I turn around by the flag at the top of Main Street and say goodbye. So I'm a sap just like y'all.

When driving: DH has twice insisted on staying at Epcot thru Illuminations (that's the one that makes him cry!) and then our driving marathon begins.

When flying: hit MK early and do the Disney mountain range, maybe Buzz, lunch at Trail's End, and then pool until 3:30 or time to leave to catch our 6:30 flight.

I always do better when I know I have some trips ahead of me.

We always end up doing all our shopping for souvenirs our last day....and having a nice lunch somewhere. We always plan not to have to shop our last day but it never works out that way.

We usually stay an extra day after LOS ticket or don't use another PH day so the last real ticket day we hop to all the parks get our have to sees and one last times and always hit MK. We usually use the car this day so we can run around. The last day (no ticket day) we go fishing at POR (we stay there lots) and sometimes do a surrey ride get late check out and go to DTD on the boat to do all the last minute shopping withdrawl is better if the car is filled with trickets LOL you know munch on mickey chocolate and pretzels check the time on the mickey watch give the kids mickey toys to play with oh well still not the same LOL
Then after a meal we head out at 3:00 or so for a 22 hour car ride back to NH with 3 kids in the car!!

What great ideas! All our flights have been mid-day in the past so we have just hung out at the pool, saying good-bye to the parks the night before as Kitty-Kat Lady said (sorry, but I couldn't quite type out your name!).

Next trip we have a 7pm flight, so I plan on checking out early, storing the bags and off to MGM. Maybe lunch at PrimeTime to get us laughing before departure.

We also tend to go to DD and pick up any last min presents we still need to get and any souvenirs that I see! Then we will typically eat somewhere and hit the road :(

Technically, our last day consists of leaving for the airport by 9am, so we don't have time to do anything. The last day we have at WDW, we'll usually hit something we've missed or go to our favorite parks. (Mine is MK, my fiance's is Epcot.)

I do get sad on the last day, but what keeps me going is knowing that as long as I live, I'll always be planning future trips to DisneyWorld!! And never allowing more then 3 years between visits! So far, we've been keeping within that time frame.;)

I fear that if i went back into the parks the day we had to leave I might chain myself to something:p

:D :D :p We are a pathetic bunch; aren't we!!!!!!!!

You are sooooo much like me - I can never bear going to the MK on the last day. We find ourself doing some kind of weaning process - a breakfast in a hotel or shopping at the Marketplace. We can't bear being in the parks on the last day!
