For everything? Does anyone use travellers checks anymore? are they accepted at disney world? my husband and i don't agree on this, i say no... they went the way of the dinosuar, he says yes opinions!!?

We have a Disney Gift Card from Food&Wine a few years back, not much bigger than a postage stamp and it's on a flexible wrist band. You pre-load $$ on it by cash or credit card and just swipe it to make a purchase. I do carry some cash for single drinks at Rose &Crown and such places.

We haven't used traveler's checks in many years.

We paid for our upcoming Disneyworld trip on-line with credit card, and later added the dining plan so we probably won't actually be spending much more money on our trip.

We may want a drink from the bar occasionally, or at dinner, and I know I'll want a few small souvenirs but that'll probably be about it and we'll just use our credit card for them. We'll have some cash along with us "just in case" (maybe a couple hundred dollars each) but will probably end up bringing that home as we do quite often on vacations. I would hate to be without any cash at all, but we rarely use it and just prefer to use the credit card.

We pay via Magicband which is linked to our room. When it's time to checkout we use gift cards at the resort to pay our bill. Any extra go on the cc. Traveler's Checks would seem like a big pain in the neck at this point.

My last 3 or 4 trips I've used gift cards. I get fuel perks from Giant Eagle when I buy them, I always wait for a 20 cents per gallon/$50 offer. There were times on my last trip at Food & Wine when it was easier to just use the band, I knew I would use up my gift cards before the end of the trip.

I haven't used a travellers cheque in almost 20 years. Some places still take them, but fewer every year, it seems. We use a combination of credit card and cash. Most things are charged to our room account. We also carry a little cash each day for small items. I prefer to use the credit card - I earn rewards each time I use it, and its accepted almost everywhere.

Also remember that you will need to pay tip- that gets very pricey.

We put everything on credit cards even day to day. We pay our credit cards every month and have never carried a balance- the rewards points are great

We paid for our trip using my Discover card (5% cash back since I had just opened it when we booked). So we were happy with that. This time around, we're saving for a wedding/honeymoon, and paying for most things with my fiance's Capital One Venture card. So we're putting our trip on that - 0% interest, so we just pay over the course of a few months and rack up the points.

We used the dining plan last time, took some cash for tips, and got some gift cards as well. Our local grocery chain, Giant Eagle, does 20 cents off per gallon for each $50 gift card you purchase. For me, .20 per gallon = $3 per fill up, so for every $50 I save $3. Not a huge savings, but it's something! We used the gift cards for Food and Wine snacks and souvenirs. It worked out really well for us, since we used some extra money leading up to the trip to purchase gift cards and weren't putting it on credit cards during our stay.

Our plan is to put money on prepaid Visa card, charge to the room with the magic bands, then pay off every few days with the prepaid card. We don't have regular CCs, so this is the safest way for us. Will also carry small amt of cash.

I went looking for a place to buy travelers checks a couple of WDW trips ago - never did find a place to even buy the things! My bank had stopped carrying them and despite searching around I couldn't find anyplace w/ them available.

My parents' financial advisor (they have money, we don't) told them NOT to do that! He said not to use your checking account card for anything on vacations, if possible. If someone gets hold of that account, BAD news!

We are getting a prepaid Visa card for the trip. It's used like a credit card, but is only good for the amt of cash you add. And if it gets stolen or hacked or whatever, that's all the money they get, not our whole bank account (not much for us, probably more for you!) It's kinda like a cross between a gift card and a CC.
