Ok, I have a weird thing about bananas... They can't be bruised, not too ripe and no black spots. The thought of making banana bread and mashing the bananas makes me want to vomit. I discard the peel before eating the banana. Just looking at the peel makes me gag.

I like my bananas all yellow...but I'm a mom, so I eat the ones with dark spots because no one else will and I'm not wasting perfectly good food.

I will tell you, however, that my mother once put my lunch in the fridge with a banana in it...you all know what happens to a banana in the fridge...well I took my lunch to school and at it---the other children taunted me with the title "black banana girl" for the next four years of elementary school. So I eat my bananas where no one else can see me.

I like mine with a little green or perfectly yellow. I gag if they are too green and don't like them too ripe.

I can mush for banana bread, however.

I like mine ripe. The best is to mash them up and add some peanut butter. Spread on fresh white bread--best sandwich in the world! Yes, my mother is from Memphis

I love just about anything with chocolate and bananas--but if they are green forget it! Disgusting. I like them sweet.


Great quick dessert/snack--Banana Boats. Put a banana (or a few) in a baking dish and cut lengthwise. Fill with chocolate chips and marshmallows and heat in the oven until the chips and marshmallows are melted. Turn on the broiler to brown the top and serve. YUMMY!

How funny - DH and I were just discussing this last night! I'm an all green or a little green banana girl, and DH can't stand them unless they are fully ripe. The minute the bananas no longer have green on them, I stop eating them, and it drives DH nuts because he thinks they are getting wasted then! Fortunately, he has an awesome banana bread recipe that he pulls out to use up the bananas I think are too ripe. Unfortunately, I can never convince him to put chocolate chips in the banana bread...
