How do you fold fitted sheets...

This question should prove that you can get the answer to ANY problem on this board!

I know people who have very neat looking linen closets. Mine is now so neat, because I cannot get the fitted sheets to fold properly. Someone told me to tuck the corners into each other, but that still doesn't get the sheet to lie flat because of the elastic.

Is there a secret to this? I never learned this in home ec, and my mother, who probably knew the secret, has passed away. Surely some member of the people-who-love Disney-and-have-neat-linen-closets-society can help me out!

My Mother in Law can fold them so well they look like flat sheets when they are folded! I have watched her and I still can't get it right, I just take the sheets off the bed, wash them and put them back on!

every week I take the same set off wash them and put them back on. I have never folded the fitted sheets that welll so I gave up. When they wear out I will buy new ones, easy as that.

It won't help on folding, but here is a tip that I picked up on one of those reader write-ins in a magazine.

Put your fitted and flat sheets and pillowcase inside the other pillowcase of the sheet set. No more lost pillowcases and easier to carry around.

We have so many sheet sets and this works great!

I've been using this method for a while, and I love the way my linen closet looks now! I can't get my sheets quite as perfect as shown on the website, but they are flat/rectangular enough to stack nicely!

We have king sized sheets, so I'm embarrassed to say, I've never folded them by myself (I always wait till DH gets home). Anyway, we do fold them as described in the Martha S. website (taught to me by my DM) but they never are quite as FLAT as I'd like them to be. Now, if I iron them first, they get real flat but who wants to do that?? I only iron the set that is 350 thread count which always looks wrinkled but are ohhhh so soft!

Wad um up and stuff them behind the nicely folded flat sheets and pillowcases! Seriously, I have one set of sheets that the elastic is all stretched out on and they fold perfectly. The others always are lumpy.

Fitted sheets aren't supposed to be folded neatly, it's un-American!

The fitted sheets should look lumpy so you know which sheet to grab first when you make the bed.

My mom taught me at a very young age how the fitted sheets should be folded. I try...but I can never get them perfectly square and flat...oh well.
