How do you describe your job?

I do a mixed bag of things at the office, so I usually go with "commercial property management.....but I am not a property manager!" lol. Sometimes I leave out the last part though, because there are people who will ask me to explain how I am in property management but not a manger myself and thats when it gets confusing.

I am the Rehab Coordinator for 5 outpatient clinics and my directors assistant among many other things lol. My job is varied. I am a counslor to our assistant directors when they are mad at each other. I educate new office staff in our registration system. I work on process flows, capital ordering, help with budget, oncology data, you name it I pretty much do it. I enjoy it but right now I am bored with it. I've been doing it for 15 years and trying to figure out what else I could be doing is daunting.

I tell people payroll accounting since that's my official title. But it's more complicated then that. I am responsible for the hiring and exit paperwork and any other personnel paperwork for about 100 drivers, any billing and crediting of their loads and then ensuring they are paid correctly. It's a way different world then I used to work in which was trust operations.

I find volunteer opportunities for students at Imperial College London and help run their flagship tutoring programme. I'm also a subwarden in a halls of residence looking after the students' wellbeing :)

I'm a high school math teacher. This year I'm teaching Precalculus. Last year it was Geometry, the year before mostly Algebra.

Current job title: Educational Assistant I herd cats for a living!

Previous job titles:

Logistics team member / cashier
SAHM
Secretary / Treasurer for a small corporation
Insurance Underwriter

Officially, I am an Asset Control Manager for a large retailer.
What I actually do is constantly check out fixtures for safety, and constantly count our inventory to make sure we are not losing any. No chasing down shoplifters in this litigious day and age, now we just keep checking our stuff to make sure what's supposed to be there is there.

Health & Safety Specialist. Basically, I teach CPR, First Aid and conduct training on OSHA related topics to employees at different companies. The best part is when I go back 2 years later to do a refresher training and find out one of my students was able to save someone's life because of what they learned with me. That always gets me choked up and makes my day.

Quality Control in a plastics plant... fun fun fun... eh

What do i do?

I manage SQL and IIS servers, I also create, and maintain Group Policies in our work's computer domain. I also create unattended software packages for mass deployment.

What do I TELL people I do?

I work with computers.

That's the answer they are most happy with. :)
