How do you cure a cat with fleas and constant itching?

The dried blood on the chin could actually be acne. If you feed your cat's dish is plastic, bacteria can build up and cause acne. Even washing the dish regularly does not get rid of the bacteria.

Your cat may also have ear mites.

No one will ever know, however, what is wrong with your cat and how to treat it when you don't take the poor thing to the vet.

My mom brushes our cat's fur every day but where he usually gets fleas is between his ears and his chin and today my mom and I noticed that our cat had scratched his chin raw because he had dried blood on his chin. But we are gonna try a new flea collar on our cat and see if it fixes the flea problem on my cat. I have heard of Frontline for cats because i've seen the commercial for it. Does it really work to get rid of cat fleas well? And you can buy it at the pet store rather than a vet? It sounds like my mom and I would like to try it on our cat. The only other place our cat might've gotten fleas is from the neighborhood cat that Mom feeds outside but we haven't checked yet
Do you understand that those collars are covered in pesticides not medicine?

Would you sleep covered in pesticide? Most people would not deliberately do so, much less intentionally wear an article of clothing continually releasing pesticide onto the skin for ongoing dosing as it seeps into the blood & exposure to the furniture and all.

Collar chemicals are absorbed & kill bugs the same way they can kill your pet, or hurt you, or your mom. To switch can be dangerous since your cat already has this collar stuff in it's blood and it will be there a while. The watery eyes would seem to indicate something is bothering your pets eyes and the collar is right there at its neck giving off fumes. Sometimes the best answer is less not more, maybe the cat will stop scratching if the chemicals go away.

Yes flea collars can be dangerous & at best worthless. I use revolution. You will need to get it from the vet usually. Frontline is OTC & still better than a flea collar. I would recommend starting with capstar. It’s a pill though. But it’ll kill the live fleas within hours. Then whatever you’re using should for a preventative should kill anything remaining. I disagree you have to treat the house. I’ve gotten rid of fleas by treating the pets with a product that works. But you will most likely need to get something that works that well from your vet.
I agree. No need to bomb the house. It would take quite the infestation to have to resort to that.

My cats have used Bravecto and Revolution Plus with no fleas whatsoever. Frontline is ineffective in my area now because fleas have become resistant to it, but I guess it works in some places still. A vet would write the prescription for a flea med if your cat has been seen in the past year. They should have annual visits anyway. I would NOT give over the counter flea meds or use flea collars (especially from Hartz) as they're ineffective at best, but also some have been linked to pets dying or getting sick. If you must use over the counter, never ever use anything with permethrin as it's toxic to cats.

I don’t have a cat, so this falls under maybe stupid comment category…….but have you seen fleas? Could it be your cat is just allergic to the collar?
True. I had a cat once who was allergic to flea bath. Had a horrible reaction at the vet. I was told not to use flea collars on her out of caution even though it is different medicine.
