How do you "connect" with Disney in between trips?

I know that before I moved here, anything that reminded me of Disney World always lifted my spirits. Sometimes just watching old vacation videos would do the trick. Of course, being the obsessive/compulsive that I am, I ended up creating this site for that very reason. So, other than this site, what do you do to 'connect' to your Disney passion?

I bounce around a couple Disney sites on the net. We get a lot of Disney mail, DVC, Passholder, magazine and other stuff.

Most is old news by the time the mail gets here as this place spreads news like wild fire.

Besides this site? I didn't know there was any other way!

Maybe watching Disney movies and going to TDS.

By the way, again we want to THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR CREATING THIS SITE!!!!!

Since I got DSL, I've been listening every day to Park Hopper Radio on Live365. It's great to hear all of the songs from the around the World. I also spend a lot of time looking at pictures on different sites, especially ***********.

I'm also a compulsive buyer of tour books:rolleyes: As soon as I've got a trip booked, I have to go out and buy the newest Disney books, even if the ones I have are only a year old.

And of course, lots and lots of time on DIS!

Listening to Live 365 definitely gets me in the Disney mood. I also love looking back through our pictures and think about the great times.

Love the site!!

Thank you for making this wonderful site. It keeps me up to date on everything Disney when I'm not there. This is the only place for me. I also love to read all my old travel guides, look at pictures, vacation videos, and I have a ton of disney collectibles which keep me Disney happy almost every day.

Definitely watching videos from previous trips, and looking at the scrapbooks I've made, counting down the days until our next trip, visits to the Disney web sight, and, of course, daily visits here! Thanks SO much for letting us gather here, for that daily fix.

I cruise a few other sites(but really Pete--this is #1). I also watch one or two classic Disney movies each week. I get the Mickey Monitor and the other quarterly that I can't think of right now. I also LOVE my Disney cd's. TDS used to be a fix...but that just ruins it for me now.

A group of us get together twice a month (in different places) to pin trade (1st Tuesday and second Wednesday). And, I belong to another Disney Club in the area which meets on the third Tuesday of each month. It started out as a club for people who collect WDCC pieces but as grown to a club for anyone who loves Disney.

Pretty easy to get a Disney fix!

MP3s of park attractions always work for me.

I played the 1991 Official Album almost non-stop while writing the first and second versions of the touring plan software for the Guide. To this day, I can't listen to "British Grenadiers" or "Minnie's Yoo Hoo." But I often throw something from Epcot into Winamp to get in a programming mood. Anything from Horizons usually works well.

Great site, Pete. Bob was surprised at the size of the community here. Hope to see lots of DIS folks in December.

Sincerely,

Len

Spending more time than I should at TDS, listen to lots and lots Disney CDs including Illuminations soundtracks, parade soundtracks, Disney hits, Disney songs in country and bluegrass version. Reading all the material that I can get my hands on from Walt and Roy's lives, to the ones about how they built their business, all the ones about the parks and am currently on pins and needles waiting for the next Disney Magazine to come in the mail, which I personally think they could make that a monthly instead of a quarterly. Dont yall agree?? And I know we werent supposed to say anything about this website, but WebmasterPete and all the other folks involved with making this site available, a heartfelt and well deserved, great big.......THANK YOU!!!!!

And JenS or slp87or anyone else for that matter, please explain to me what DSL and Live 365 is cause that sounds like something right up my alley. Im slow when it comes to getting into the latest trends, but if it means it can help with my Disney fix, then I gotta get it.

Jimmy

Going to Disney planning websites and planning trips for myself and others.

It's not nearly enough of a fix. I need to move there too. ;)

I love to look through our Disney photo albums at the pictures we have taken from previous trips. I always smile and laugh just looking at certain pictures - I can almost just recreate what was going on in that moment in my head - and I feel like I am there again.

Watching my old vacation planning videos - I just love these....really gets me in the spirit!

Actually, coming to work everyday reminds me of Disney, and really gets me excited about my next trip. Why is this you ask? Well, my work space is a shrine to everything Disney. I have my Mickey ears on display, all sorts of Pooh items I have purchased from WDW, my Disney Mr. Potato Head and so many more things...even if I am having a bad day, one look around my desk, and a smile seems to creep onto my face.

The last thing I like to do is read the planning books. I have read them cover to cover, but somehow, I enjoy reading them over and over. Sometimes I seem to find something new that I may have missed before.

These boards are just wonderful and I love this web site. I am so glad I stumbled across it a couple of years ago!

I'm also hooked on Florida Project Radio on Live365. Also old vacation videos, and this site - especially the boards.

Jimmytammy:
DSL is highspeed internet (other providers like Comcast call it broadband). Live365 is a website that has dozens if not hundreds of specialty "radio stations" compiled by individuals (usually), and targeting a special interest. There are jazz stations, classic rock stations, and of course Disney stations. Go to www.live365.com, do a search for disney, and you'll see many choices. Florida Project Radio is my favorite - has background music from the parks, attraction music and narration, parade music, etc. The quality is excellent - and there are no crowd noises, which makes me think they have the actual recordings (as opposed to making the recording themselves at the parks.)

I guess dial-up internet is too slow to play the music without pauses, but it would be worth a try if you don't have a high speed connection.

We watch the vacation planning videos, the Sing-a-long videos and look at the pictures and videos from our trips. I also started my collection of music from the parks by purchasing the Illluminations CD and I hope to add one or two on each trip. I also love the Disney catalog and the Disney Magazine and thanks to another thread I e-mailed about receiving the Mickey Monitor since we purchased AP's this summer. But of course my number #1 remedy for the "between Disney visits blues" is your site. I have been to a couple of other sites but yours is the best!!!! Thanks Pete!!!

humm, just listen to my dd talk about it. You haven't "lived" till you have a 4yo walking around sighing "I need a vacation...."

Plus, I'll look at old pic's. Didn't know abt this wonderful site till recently.

:smooth:

Birnbaum's, other books, Live 365, photo scrapbooks, CD's, vacation planning videos and other web sites. But the DIS rules. Thank you.

I know you wanted other answers, but you're it!- Thanks!

Other than the DIS boards, photo albums and a coworker (in a different office though) who loves to talk WDW help some until the next trip. :)

Besides this awesome site, I like to listen to Disney music, look at my scrapbooks and photos, read the Disney magazine & browse at TDS. I also look at some other websites and plan for the next trip if none are planned!!
