We use the log cabin method and a TP roll stuffed with dryer lint.

Teepee or log cabin here. But if I'm making the fire I also cheat with starter cupcakes that I make. My dryer lint has way too much dog hair in it and smells gross, so I do these things instead after seeing some for sale at a camp store a few years ago.

To start, I have a couple of cheap muffin tins along with a cheap ladle from the dollar store dedicated to this. Then I pick up cupcake liners on clearance after whatever holiday is over. I use cedar hamster bedding because it smells good. Stuff each cupcake with the cedar shavings, melt some wax and pour it over the top with the ladle (a big batch works well in the crock pot using those plastic bag liners). Let 'em cool and you're all set!
