Hey all,

I am a 24 yr old computer engineer and disney fanatic.. I was wondering if anyone knows how to get a job with Disney in this field?? Im good at what I do and KNOW i could nail any interview.. Ill tell what else, if they had me coding up Test Track it wouldnt be so busted:)..

You don't really "apply" to be an Imagineer. Imagineers are hired mostly for job-specific positions and they seem to be "found" in their fields. That is, when a new park or ride or something is being built or developed, the Imagineering team is put together based on the skill sets needed to develop that ride. When DAK was being built, there were a lot of animal, Africa, folklore and arts Imagineers hired. They stayed with the project and pretty much left after it was done. A few stayed on to maintain and develop new things for the park, but Imagineers are mostly temp jobs. The long-time Imagineers are folks that have been with Disney for years and years and are really well-rounded in their talents and knowledge.

The number of "Disney fanatic" Imagineer wannabes that send resumes to WDI every year is staggering. If you want a chance ... really want a chance ... you can get a computer job at Disney, learn what the new and upcoming projects are, and then start leaning your talents towards them so that when it comes time for those projects to be staffed, you're ready; or you can stay where you are and watch the news and read the industry stuff and wait until a project comes along that seems to fit your specific skill set, then apply to WDI with those talents and that skillset specifically outlined.

But it's really incredibly rare for a WDI job to just show up on a jobs listing. They're extremely competitive and while interviewing well will help, you've got to have something specific to the project or unique to Disney that makes you stand out among the other thousand computer engineers you're competing against.

Wow guys this paints a pretty bleak picture I am making WAY too much to ever fall into an internship style position.. Maybe its just not meant to be:)
at least I can still visit!

While it would be fun to have a key position with Disney, in the long run, I think you're better off with a job that pays the big bucks to take frequent WDW vacations.:earsboy:
