How do yiu protect your self

My mother often wore a surgical mask when flying, not to inhibit conversation but rather to avoid catching a cold from others in close quarter. (She did not take it off until leaving the airport just in case someone ahead of her sneezed on the escalator that carried her through the resulting cloud of germs.) She advised me to do the same (wear the mask) but never related others' reactions to me so I suspect she ignored such reactions.
Maybe you should find out why this happens to you, and work to make it stop.
Can you help me (find out why ...)? E.g. where do I start? Give me (us) a narrative to help walk me through it (how to find out why). Okay to use all four kinds of sentences (declarative, interrogative, imperative, exclamatory). After that I'll do the work myself on making it (attracting weirdos) stop.

Seriously guys???
Someone isn't a weirdo because they talk to you. If you don't want to chat, just plug in earbuds and stop worrying about it. Even if you're just reading a book, you can put in earbuds and that will pretty much stop any unwelcome talk.

No but I have bern told by my parents that I can be too soft at times

The one time I did fly alone (On Southwest) I was fortunate enough to have good seatmates. Both times I was one of the first to board so I grabbed a window seat toward the back of the plane. The first time I had a younger lady in the aisle and a middle-aged woman in the middle. We all had a nice time together. The second time around I had a young couple that didn't speak the entire flight, which was ok with me. I am flying alone again in October, so I would think things would go just as smoothly.

I was not smart i ended up asking my dad to book a aisle for me so I would not have to bother any one if I had to use the restroom

I have, on occasion, apologized to a chatty seat mate and said I can't really converse during flight, as I easily become airsick and find I do best when I am facing straight ahead, with my eyes closed. It happens to be 100% true, but the minute I mention airsickness, most people leave me alone!

What's not smart about that?

I'm claustrophobic on planes and sometimes just feel so anxious it's terrible. The best flight I've had in recent years was when I sat next to someone chatty. I was kind of annoyed at first in that "Please leave me alone. Can't you see I am busy panicking here?" kind of way;). It turned out to be the most wonderful and quick flight I've had in a long time because I HAD to be engaged and polite. Time flew. :)

Many people have questions/concerns when flying. They don't fly often so are unfamiliar with the way things may work. I have no issue with someone posting many questions here. If anyone has an issue with multiple postings, by the same person, then perhaps they should refrain from opening that thread.
It's comments like this, even said with a wink and a twinkle, that make people leave this board!!!! No, we don't toss pixiedust all over the place, but we are kind and helpful.

:confused3

Don't take things so seriously! :joker:

I PERSONALLY think worrying about something which might, but probably won't happen, is a waste of time. As someone already posted, if you attract weirdos, try and figure out why, then change that behavior. If you're married and guys are always hitting on you, despite your wedding ring, you are very likely sending out signals that you are interested, intentionally or not.

I have a friend who is so sweet and nice. she always ends up stuck talking to weirdos. her hubby warns her: DON'T MAKE EYE CONTACT!

And again...seriously? I think the issue here is use of particular words. Because someone talks to you does not make them 'weird', sitting in a window seat does not make you 'safe' from 'weirdos'.
The OP obviously has an issue with flying. And that's okay. But to worry about being 'safe' from 'weirdos' on a plane?
This whole thread is just weird, pardon my use of phrase. I'm pretty sure it's done.
